Scrabble is an immensely popular game, from the original board game, to hand held airport time killers to playing the video game online against random folks from all around the world.
Scrabble is part spelling bee, part luck, and part laying the smack down on your opponent’s four letter word by using one of the letters to spell a high scoring unique word that breaks out the dictionary, all in all a very fun time.
Thinking of high scoring or unique words during the middle of the game is a tough task though, especially if you’re not like Jeopardy smart or something. I have compiled a list of unique and high scoring words that you can use to give you that needed edge over your Scrabble nemesis, try to remember the smaller unique ones to get you out of a jam or carry a cheat-sheet in your wallet or purse.
Use a lot of these words to build off other words and remember to think about your everyday prefixes and suffixes, PRE, ED, ING when spelling words. I’ve also included a few small letter words of letters you’ll probably have that can be used to get you out a quick jam.
Also remembering that this is a game, all the words below appear in the official Merriam-Webster’s Official Scrabble Players Dictionary 3rd Edition, just in case someone protests next time you bust out zyzzyva to win the game.
