With October quickly approaching, many cities and towns are planning various fall celebrations, including Oktoberfests. If you’re a lover of fall as well as animals, the Detroit Zoo located in Royal Oak, Michigan is having their 4th annual Oktoberfest from October 6 – 8 this year that is sure to be spectacular. This exciting three-day celebration will include German-style food, live entertainment, children’s activities as well as a beer garden for adults, which will be provided by Atwater Block Brewery. The event times for the Detroit Zoo’s OktoberFest are Friday, October 6, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, October 7, noon to 11 p.m., and Sunday, October 8, noon to 5 p.m.
There will be a great deal of scrumptious foods to choose from at the Oktoberfest, and something is sure to tempt everyone in your party, including Bavarian pretzels, bratwurst, potato pancakes and Black Forest torte. Entertainment will be exciting as well, with performances by the Dave Slivinksi Band, Die Rhinelanders, Soregnbrecher, and the Oehrlein Bavarian Dancers. Admission to this spectacular event is free with regular Zoo admission from noon until 5 p.m. If you arrive after 5 p.m., admission is $5 per person, ages 2 and older.
The Detroit Zoo’s OktoberFest will include a wide variety of activities to keep the entire family amused, including children of all ages. On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a children’s play area that opens at noon both days. Some of the activities offered in the play area will be face painting, crafts, pumpkin decorating, a giant slide, a straw maze, and an inflatable obstacle course. Admission for this fun-filled event is $5 in addition to regular Zoo admission.
The Detroit Zoo is located at the intersection of 10 Mile Rd and Woodward Avenue, just off the 696 expressway. Regular admission is $11.00 for adults 13 to 61, $9.00 for senior citizens 62 and older, and $7.00 for children ages 2 to 12; children under 2 are free. Northville Chamber of Commerce Oktoberfest
This smashing Oktoberfest will be held on October 9th and 10th, at the Northville Community Park, which is located at 5 Mile and Beck in the beautiful city of Northville. There will be tons of delicious German food, performances by dancers and musicians, inflatable rides for children to play on, a toddler Hay and Bale Maze, a classic car show & various Oktoberfest merchandise for you to purchase. Admission to the Village is absolutely free. Admission to the Oktoberfest Beer Tent is $5.00 for adults, 17 and older; free for children 16 and under who must be accompanied by an adult to enter. In addition to the food, fun and music, there will be various crafting vendors present to entice you to purchase their handmade crafts and jewelry. Oktoberfest hours will be 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. on October 9th and 12 noon – 10:30 p.m on October 10th.
