The fantasy projections and predictions for the 2009 NFL Week 6 center around running backs. Who will have the biggest week 6? As a fantasy football player, you probably have just 4-5 running backs and perhaps even less if you’re playing with a tight roster.
So who will shine in the week 6 of the 2009 NFL season. Initially I like Clinton Portis as Washington hosts Kansas City. The Redskins should build a lead and Portis could get more carries down the stretch, too. But I think Portis will get 2 touchdowns or more in this battle against a team that just doesn’t seem to have it on offense or defense. Write it down. Portis 134 yards and 2 scores.
I also think Maurice Jones-Drew of Jacksonville will bust out with a 3 touchdown game. The Jags are hosting St. Louis on Sunday. Jones-Drew will have one of those 2-3 touchdown games and easily crack the 100 yard mark. While he hasn’t set the world on fire, don’t leave him on your bench for the 2009 NFL Week 6 Fantasy game.
Jones-Drew 116 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Another back I like for the 2009 NFL Week 6 schedule is Ryan Grant. The Packers play Detroit. If you can call it that. The Lions have played much better this season but Grant could easily top 100 yard and gobble up more in game-milking time. Grant should have 2 touchdowns against this defense. Grant 109 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Adrian Peterson will probably have a tough go against Baltimore. But his breakaway speed could allow him to post numbers that are a little deceiving if he breaks off a long run at some point. Peterson is not a running back I would expect big things from this week, but if you have him you almost have to play him. My 2009 NFL week 6 fantasy projection is Peterson rumbles for 91 yards and 1 touchdown.
Quarterbacks to watch out for in the 2009 NFL Week 6 schedule? I like Carson Palmer in a possible shootout against Houston. The Texans haven’t exactly slowed down opposing offenses this season. Look for Carson Palmer to be very effective on Sunday. If not, then Cedric Benson certainly could be a running back to watch. My guess is Palmer has 256 yards and 3 touchdowns. Matt Schaub will not play as well. Schaub with 2 interceptions and just 219 yards total through the air.
Other 2009 NFL Week 6 NFL Fantasy Quarterback studs? Matt Ryan lights up the night against the Chicago Bears with 300 yards in week 6. Ben Roethlisberger is awesome against Cleveland with nearly 300 yards and 2-3 TD passes. Tom Brady is money against a Tennessee defense that is almost ready to call it quits at this point.
Brady goes for 255 and 3 touchdowns.
Who will struggle in the 2009 NFL Week 6? Drew Brees might have a tough go of it against the New York Giants. You have to start him unless you have a premiere backup. But the Giants will blitz a lot and Brees has his work cut out for him. Joe Flacco won’t be rolling in Minnesota against a tough Vikings defense. Kurt Warner might put up big yards but his TD numbers might take a hit in Seattle.
Receivers I like for 2009 NFL Week 6 Fantasy breakouts? Antwan Randle-El should be able to put decent numbers up for Washington. Donald Driver should also be a factor for Green Bay against Detroit as Greg Jennings draws more coverage. Hines Ward won’t be held down against Cleveland.
Best defense? Pittsburgh Steelers against Cleveland. Should I say anymore?
