Designing the invitations for your winter solstice party can be a merry activity to do with your family and friends. When the attendees of your party receive your DIY invites, they’ll be getting a small dose of the awesome festivities that await them. Below are three winter solstice invitation ideas that require minimal time and money.
Green paper (craft, cardstock, etc)
Red ribbon (or a package of tiny craft bows)
White craft beads
Step One – Using your ruler and pencil, draw 4 equal-sized squares onto one sheet of cardstock. The idea is to get 4 invitations from one sheet of cardstock. The color of the cardstock is optional. I would recommend doing a light crème color or a pale blue.
Step Two – The next step is to draw oval shaped leaves onto the green pieces of paper. The size of the leaves should fit comfortably on the invitation square. Once you have filled up the sheet of paper with the leaves, cut them each out.
Step Three – Arrange the green leave cut-outs onto the top of the card, with the leaves pointing down. When you are satisfied with how they are grouped, glue their backs and place them on the invitation cover.
Step Four – With your glue gun, adhere a tiny bow above the group of mistletoe leaves. Place the bow at the very top of the mistletoe group. Then glue a few of the white beads in between the leaves.
Pillar Candle Invitation
Cardstock (in various colors)
Glitter glue sticks
Step One – Using your ruler and pencil, draw 4 equal-sized squares onto one sheet of cardstock. The idea is to get 4 invitations from one sheet of cardstock.
Step Two – Begin to trace out various pillar candle shapes on your colored paper. When you have filled the paper, cut out the shapes. Place them onto the cover of the invitation, depending on how large you sketched the pillar candles, you may only be able to glue one or two onto the front of each invitation. Before gluing the candles down, allow enough room for the flame.
Step Three – After your candles are glued into place, Take your glitter glue stick and draw a flame above the candle. You may also use your glitter glue sticks to decorate the pillar candles, adding designs or stripes to them, get creative!
Winter Solstice Feast Invitation
Step One – Using your ruler and pencil, draw 4 equal-sized squares onto one sheet of cardstock. The idea is to get 4 invitations from one sheet of cardstock. The color of the cardstock is optional.
Step Two – Cut out images of various food items and drinks from magazines. Your goal is to create a collage on the front of your invitation to reflect the feast that you will be hosting!
Step Three – Play around with the placement of your cut-outs before gluing them down. When you are satisfied, slide the glue stick on the backs of the images and firmly place them onto the front of the invitations.
