Even with four kids of my own and no living grandma, I am forever drawn to red coats. Little Red Riding Hood lives on. The following five coats (and a bonus black one because it was so very nice) are all under fifty dollars, brand new and in style. Winter fashion doesn’t have to cost hundreds of dollars. Nor do you have to settle for something that doesn’t suit you. Many possibilities are offered this year at a reasonable price.
The Urban Minx has a lot of pricey garments, but this Long Crimson Double Breasted Pea coat is a steal at $49.00. This pea coat offers classic style with a tulle fit, meaning it has a slight girlish flair from the high waist, very easy to wear style. Dry clean only, it is made of 60% wool, 40% viscose shell and has a 100% polyester lining with a trendy link pattern
Red Woolen Pea Coat with Hood, sweet and sophisticated with a short silhouette and double breasted front. The waist belt pulls the look together and keeps winter bulk in check. The attached hood is large enough to actually use during the winter and the oversized cuffs with two buttons give it some flair. Not only does this coat have a hood, but it also sports two pockets, great for holding my mittens. This coat is also 60% wool and needs to be dry cleaned and is $49.
Next is a true Red Riding Hood fan favorite, a Fleece Cap from Plow and Hearth
this fleece cape is a cozy alternative to a winter coat. Easy to dress up or down with a nice sized hood to keep the cold air out. Closes shut with covered buttons, machine washable for $38.99.
The Moss Microfiber Jacket with Vents is soft and luxurious to the touch yet can hold it’s own under the elements because of its hidden drawstrings to keep the cold air out. Button off hood and the knit trim will keep your head warm, too. Machine washable polyester, lined and filled, it is a cozy red winter coat for $44.99.
A high performance winter coat for under $50? Red? Yes. This Waterproof-to-fleece Anorak jacket is designed to deliver high performance, waterproof and wind resistant fabric provides maximum protection from harsh weather and the element. Fully reversible, with a two-sided hood as well. Two vertical zipper pockets on the chest and two side pockets at the waist, plus a utility pocket on the right sleeve. Machine washable for only $29.00.
Lastly a black Satin Puffer Jacket with Faux Fur Trim, even though this breaks my red rule. I’d have to top it with a red hat, scarf and gloves. Really nice chic, fitted jacket with satiny fabric and diagonal quilting. Multiple pockets and a really nice waistband insert with decorative smocking. Love the faux fur trim hood, glamorous and warm.
Fully lined and machine washable for $39.99.
