I try to personally thank each and every one of my clients when we’ve had a pleasant experience working together. Luckily, many of the good experiences go on to be repeat clients and I have some that I have worked with for many years.
It’s always great to have a steady client to work with where you both know what to expect from one another and you have security that payments will be made on time.
Each year during the holiday season, I have had the pleasure of having at least one or two clients offer a holiday/Christmas “bonus” of some sort and this year was no exception.
I have a wonderful client that I have worked with over a year now doing articles for MMORPGs and this year I was surprised with a $100+ bonus just after Christmas.
I’m sure everyone loves getting free money but it really means so much to me in so many ways. For one, as a freelancer, the holiday season often slows business. Clients are visiting family, taking vacations and spending money on Christmas presents and traveling. Often they don’t have the funds or the time to hire me. Business slows at the one time of year when I need the extra money the most.
But there’s more to it than just that. Bonuses like these, no matter how large or small, show that my clients appreciate me and my work. It shows that they want to thank you, reward me even, for my hard work and dedication to their projects. It always makes me feel great to know that I’ve done a good job and made such an impression that someone would want to give me more money than I had asked for (as a bonus).
This doesn’t just happen at the holiday season, either. I’ve had other clients do it year-round, often at the end of projects to thank me for going above and beyond what they expected me to do on their project.
This motivates me to continue to work hard each and every day and on each and every project that I take. I value each project and each client very dearly and always attempt to put 100% into my work.
As someone with a family of 6 to support, I am grateful for every client who pays on time, pays as expected and especially for those who become repeat clients. Whether the project is $50 or $5,000, it goes towards my family 100%.
If you’re a client of mine, know that your money could be going to pay the house payment for my family, buy one child new shoes or even groceries for this month. My family has a roof over their heads because of you. My children have clothing and toys because of you.
By continuing to support my business, you help support my family and also allow me to do my dream job while working from home with my children and family. You make my dreams come true each and every day.
So to my clients- past, present and future- here’s a great BIG thank you!
