Washington D.C. offers a vast array of fine restaurants for your dining pleasure. Many tourists are overcome with the choices that await them. Here is a list of six of the top restaurants in the area that you will want to try on any visit or vacation to our nations capital. I have had the pleasure of dining at two of these establishments in the past.
1) Michel Richard Citronelle
3000 M St NW, Latham Hotel, Washington, DC 20007
This is home to world renowned chef Michel Richard. All of the main courses are mouth watering and unique. There is also an 8,000 bottle glass enclosed wine cellar. The restaurant caters to many dignitaries and celebrities. The atmosphere is outstanding. I have had the personal pleasure of dining at Citronelle and I adored every minute of it. I would not hesitate to personally recommend it. The menu is expensive and there is a dress code but it is a wonderful experience. You will need reservations well in advance.
4822 MacArthur Blvd, Washington, DC 20007
The menu is ever changing at this restaurant as the chef works on various dishes. This restaurant offers fine Japanese food. You must don slippers at the door to this restaurant as they try to capture the true Japanese feeling and spirit. Reservations must be made well in advance. Dress is business casual.
1001 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC 20004
This restaurant offers Asian and Pacific dishes. They offer wonderfully unique wines from around the world to try and enjoy with each dish. It is a truly unique culinary experience. The atmosphere is marvelous. You are surrounded by a wealth of antiques and collectibles from Thailand and China.
3529 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008
This restaurant sports American dishes with a strong French and Italian influence. Palena was opened by two White House chefs and it offers a wonderful relaxing atmosphere with superb food. They have a fantastic dessert menu so be sure to leave room for a sweet treat when you dine here. I have had the pleasure of personally dining at Palena and it was more then acceptable.

5) Prime Rib
2020 K St NW, Washington, DC 20006
This is a luxurious restaurant that is famous for its aged beef and truly fantastic seafood’s. The wine list is absolutely fantastic. This is a a place that fills with everyone who is anyone in the D.C. area plus it draws many celebrities. There is a dress code and reservations are required.
6) Vidalia Restaurant
1990 M St NW, Washington, DC 20036
Vidalia is owned and operated by Chef Jeffrey Buben. He serves wonderfully modern American dishes. There is a dress code and reservations are required. The atmosphere is wonderful with muted light and neutral colors.
