I have spent the vast majority of my life living in the Pacific Northwest, which has given me the opportunity to dine in various Seattle, Washington restaurants throughout the years. Here is a list of five of the best restaurants for locals or travelers to enjoy in the area. A few of these I have had the personal pleasure of enjoying.
1) Canlis Restaurant
2576 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109
This lovely restaurant sits above Lake Union and offers a lovely vista to enjoy during your dining visit.
Canlis has the distinction of being one of only 50 restaurants in the world to receive the distinction of winning the ‘Grand Award’ for its superb wine list.
I have had the pleasure of dining at Canlis and I highly recommend it. The food is exceptional, the service superb, and the atmosphere very upscale.
Jackets and tie are preferred.
2) Rays Boathouse

Rays Boathouse consists of an upscale downstairs dining room and a more casual upstairs dining room. Both area’s offer fantastic views of the mountains and the water. The food is superb and often there are strong Asian dishes available. I have personally ordered the oysters on a half shell and they were wonderful. It was a lovely day when I ate there and we were able to sit outside overlooking the water. The prices are not too steep and the atmosphere is laid back and enjoyable. They also sport a wonderful wine list to be enjoyed and they offer some excellent micro brew beers from the region.
