There will be no shortage of Haunted House attractions in Houston, Texas this Halloween. Some venues even have multiple locations, for your convenience. Several venues are still hiring actors. See the websites for additional details.
Scream House Entertainment offers 3 separate houses in one location. Tickets can be purchased for entrance to 1-3 of the events – the Sanitarium, the Castle of Doom and the Texas Chainsaw maze – starting at $15 for one house with $5 for each additional house. Children under 48 inches tall are eligible for discount tickets. According to the website, children are welcome, as the actors will tone down the scariness whenever they see a child in the area. Line areas feature roofs and monitors playing scary movies. Their parking lot has been improved with gravel and extra security lighting. VIP passes, Speed Passes and Group discounts (for 25 or more) available. Online discounts available via email. Ticket offices are open from Friday, October 3, 2009 through Sunday, November 1, 2009, from 8PM to 11PM on Thursdays and Sundays, and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Nightmare on the Bayou, located directly next door to Houston’s oldest cemetery, claims to be “the only Haunted House in Houston that is really haunted!” Tickets are $30 with various discounts and VIP passes available. They are open from Friday, September 25 through Halloween, starting at 7:30PM. They do not accept credit cards, but do have an onsite ATM. Bare feet, sandals or high heels are not recommended. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Pregnant women and those with asthma or heart conditions are not encouraged to attend.
Scream World offers 5 attractions in one location. 3 of the houses are in one building, so that customers only need to stand in 1 line, with an outdoor maze and a graveyard. You are encouraged NOT to bring children under 12 years old. They will open Friday, September 18 and continue running through Saturday, November 7, 2009. Regular admission to all 5 attractions is $25, with discount nights, online and student discounts available and VIP passes offered for an additional fee. The attractions are the Maze of Maniacs, Movie Monsters in 3D, The Haunted Hotel, Edge of Darkness, and the Tobias Strange Family Cemetary.
Phobia has 2 locations in the Greater Houston area. The 290 locations features 6 attractions, while the I-45 site has only 3 houses. The Grand Opening will take place on Saturday, September 26 and they will remain open through Halloween.
