I enjoy trying different brands, types and flavors of soup. Recently, I came across a can of Campbell’s Select Harvest Beef With Roasted Barley Soup in the canned soup section of my local grocery store. I decided to purchase this soup, try it and write an unbiased product review about my experience. Here is what I discovered!
I would not classify Campbell’s Select Harvest Beef With Roasted Barley Soup low cost. I do, however, see this soup on sale quite often. I purchased a can of this soup for around one dollar and fifty cents. That was a sale price. Normally, this soup can cost around one dollar and seventy-five cents. Even more in some grocery stores. Still, the Campbell’s brand is a high quality soup brand. It costs a little more than some other brands. I like and use many Campbell’s food products. I was looking forward to tasting this soup. I must admit here, I have been disappointed by some other Select Harvest soups that I have tried. The either tasted funky or flavorless. I am spoiled by the rich taste of regular Campbell’s soups, I think.
Campbell’s Select Harvest Beef With Roasted Barley Soup has many good things going for it, I discovered. It has no MSG. It is high in vitamin A. It has no artificial flavors and it is low in fat. I was attracted to this soup because I like the beef and barley taste combination in many meals, dishes and soups. I noticed that the advertising motto for Campbell’s Select Harvest soup is “Real ingredients for real taste.” This soup has beef stock, water, seasoned roasted beef, toasted barley, carrots, potatoes, celery, tomato puree, corn, peas, onions, garlic, cabbage, parsley, paprika and many other spices and ingredients. I admit, I was impressed by the ingredients. Low fat and low cal soup. Yay!
You add no water to this soup. I had the option of preparing this soup on the stove top or in the microwave. I chose to microwave it in a microwave safe bowl, covered, on high for a few minutes. I then let it stand for one minute and stirred. This soup smelled terrific. It tasted great. Lots of beef, barley flavor and so many veggies. I added crackers to my soup and that made it taste even better. I think that without the crushed crackers, this soup might have been a tad bland. The crackers gave this soup a perfect taste, in my opinion. I really liked it. I rate Campbell’s Select Harvest Beef With Roasted Barley Soup four stars out of five stars. It is one of my favorite Select Harvest soups. I will be buying it again.
I had this soup for lunch. It made a hot, tasty and hearty lunch menu item. Very filling and so full of vegetables and beef. I enjoyed it. There are two servings in each can. One, one cup serving of this soup has one hundred and thirty calories. Only ten of these calories come from fat. That is fabulous. One serving has only one gram of total fat, one half gram of saturated fat, only ten mg’s of cholesterol, four hundred and eighty mg’s of sodium, twenty-one grams of total fat, four grams of sugars, two grams of dietary fiber and nine grams of protein. This soup provided me with thirty percent of my daily vitamin A need. Outstanding!
I enjoyed trying Campbell’s Select Harvest Beef With Roasted Barley Soup and writing a product review about it. It is a very good product, in my opinion.
