J. Crew carries a variety of functional wardrobe basics for both men and women, but they are perhaps most famous for their versatile and diverse selection of jeans. Some of J. Crew’s most widely recognized jean cuts are J. Crew toothpick, J. Crew matchstick, J. Crew vintage slim, J. Crew boot cut jeans, and J. Crew trousers. Each pair of pants has its own distinct advantages and each merits a closer looks.
J. Crew Toothpick Jeans
The ankle stretch toothpick jean from J. Crew is a very versatile pant. It has the snug look and feel of a pair of leggings and the ankle cut with a nice hem makes this pair of jeans excellent for coupling with even a highly dainty pair of heels or ballet flats. The toothpick lives up to its name and would be best for women with thin legs with a bit of length to them. The pants carry a suggested retail price of $125.00, so make sure the pockets are deep!
J. Crew Matchstick Jeans
From toothpick to matchstick jeans, J. Crew features a few unique names in their line of women’s denim essentials. The matchstick jeans are available in a few different colors including a stellar indigo wash. Matchsticks have a slightly more loose fit than the toothpick jean but are not actually loose fitting. The hem extends past the ankle and will break over a pair of shoes instead of sitting above them. A pair of indigo wash matchstick jeans will run approximately $100.00.
J. Crew Cropped Vintage Slim Jeans
Cropped jeans aren’t the best look in the world, but the J. Crew Vintage Slim jeans make it a passable style with a slightly loose fit and “lived in” detailing throughout the pocket area. Some designs come complete with a torn knee and a slight faux cut near the pocket. At $118.00 a pair, these jeans will make a definite statement, but one that is not entirely commiserate with the price tag.
J. Crew Stretch Wool Trouser
One of J. Crew’s more interesting pair of pants for women is the J. Crew Stretch Wool Trouser. This pant is sophisticated and yet entirely casual in terms of feel and wearability. This $118.00 trouser has a lot more appeal than a pair of jeans but retails at the same price tag. The pant is available in black and in sizes 00-12, and unlike with the vintage slim jeans, the cropped leg look works superbly for this trouser as the feature is not immediately noticeable but managers to add an interesting cut to the garment.
