ABC Television has announced its Season 9 list of stars for their hit show “Dancing with the Stars.” Here is the cast:
Teen pop singing idol, Aaron Carter. The sibling of Nick Carter of The Backstreet Boys, Aaron is a star in his own right. He has performed on several television shows. He’s also enjoyed four hit songs on the top 40; notable because he is the youngest to have done so.
Ashley Hamilton, son of actor George Hamilton, is just as suave and debonair as his dad. Ashely is an actor, comedian, and songwriter. His songs have been sung by such notables as Hillary Duff. He also enjoys the honor of being chosen as one of People Magazines “most beautiful men.”
Marshall artist, Chuck Liddell who enjoyed the title of the Ultimate Fighting Champion for 2009. He is also a television personality and has appeared in films. He is also the author of his autobiography. It is about his life as an ultimate fighter, entitled Iceman: My Fight Life.
Actress Debbie Mazur has had an extensive career both on television and in the movies. The New York beauty is known for her magnetic eyes, her take no prisoners attitude, and her comedic timing. She has been on shows like “Ugly Betty” and appeared in movies like “Batman Forever,” “Bullets Over Broadway” and “Malcolm X.”
Singer Donny Osmond is following in the footsteps of his sister, Marie. Once a teen idol with hits like “Puppy Love,” he starred with his sister in a popular variety show aptly named “Donny and Marie.” He went on to star on Broadway in “Joseph and His Technicolor Dreamcoat.” He continues to appear with Marie and his other siblings in Las Vegas.
Model Joanna Krupa has been voted as one of the sexiest women in the world by E Magazine and Maxim. She recently competed in ABC’s “The Superstars.” Her film credits include Six Days in Paradise. For TV she has done episodes of “CSI.”
Supermodel and entrepreneur Kathy Ireland joins her fellow model to compete. Still one of the most remembered and beloved models of all time, Kathy has ventured off into various businesses including sneakers, furniture, and linens. Her company’s success has landed her on the most successful lists of Forbes and Newsweek magazines and a ranking in The Wall Street Journal.
Kelly Osbourne is one of the controversial children of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. This actress and singer has certainly made a splash in the entertainment world, together with her family as well as on her own. She has enjoyed success with her albums and is well-recognized TV personality.
Professional Snowboarder, Louie Vito is expected to win a place on the U.S. Olympic team in 2010. His youth and charisma should strike a chord with the younger television views of DWTS.
Macy Gray, noted singer and songwriter, has one of the most recognizable voices in the world of music. With hit after musical hit to her credit and a few successful movies as well, this beauty is ready to branch out to dancing as well.
Affectionately called “the chairman” on Iron Chef, his viewing audience might be surprised just how graceful he is. This Kung fu champion and actor certainly knows how to play to a crowd and his dashing good looks won’t hurt a bit either.
Melissa Joan Hart has literally grown up on TV starring in shows like “Clarissa Explains it All” and “Sabrina, the Teen Aged Witch.” She has parlayed her success into a production film company entitled Heartbreak Films. Her television films continue to score high ratings and things are looking bright for a career on the big screen.
Football great Michael Irvin has already proven that he has fast feet on the football field. Can he translate that into dancing success? Only time will tell. The former Cowboy now works as a commentator for ESPN and has done both TV and film.
Another singer and songwriter, Mya, hopes to learn a smooth move or two on the dancing floor. This model turned actress as well has starred in films like “Chicago,” “Cursed,” and “Havana Nights.” She has also started a foundation to help women achieve their dreams through the Mya Arts & Tech Foundation.
Another Olympian enters the fray in the form of gold medallist for swimming, Natalie Coughlin. One of the most honored athletes in the world, she continues to enjoy fame for her ability to win even under great pressure. She has pulled out no less than a silver medal in every Olympic event she has done. She never says die so that shiny mirror ball trophy just might be hers.
Last, but certainly not least, paves the way for a new category for DWTS – – politician. Controversial Tom Delay, was once the majority leader of the Republican Party. He is recognized as one of the party’s strongest leaders in this century. Can “The Hammer”, as he was dubbed by The Washington Post, hammer his way to the top of the competition? Nobody knows.
