Abortion: Murder?

by saw pan

Abortion is one of the most controversial topics ever. Most everyone has an opinion on the subject, and many people feel extremely passionate about it. This is a good thing. People should be very passionate about abortion and feel strongly about their beliefs and have reasons that back their beliefs on the subject.

There are only several factors that make an unborn child different from the rest of us that are already born: location, level of dependency, size, and level of development.

Location:
Unborn babies reside inside of their mother. Location is hardly something that can determine whether or not a person is a human being, or alive. Some people live in houses, others live in apartments. Some people live on the top of a mountain, others have lived in caves. Do these locations make them less human? Do the locations make them not alive?

Level of Dependency:
An unborn baby would not survive without its mother. It relies solely on the mother to provide food, nutrition, and safety. It is completely, 100% dependent. However, many people (already born) are completely, 100% dependent on other people. Take the elderly for example. Many of them are not physically able to do things on their own any more. Some cannot eat or even go to the bathroom without assistance. People who have disabilities can also sometimes be 100% dependent on someone else. So if they are dependent on another human being for their survival, does that mean they are not human? Does that mean they are not alive? Even once the baby is born, it will still rely on its parents 100%.

Size:
The fetus is very tiny before it is born. It gets bigger with every passing day, but it is still very small compared to full sized adults. But people come in all shapes and sizes! There are tall people, short people, fat people, skinny people, dwarfs, and giants! Size can not determine someone’s worth as a human. Even once the baby is born, it is small, and it will continue to grow for many years.

Level of Development:
The unborn child is not fully developed. But from the moment of conception it has started to develop. Once we are born, we are still developing. We still grow and mature as time goes on. A full grown adult is more developed than a newborn baby. Many people are born and have developmental problems later in life. They may not fully develop. Does that make them less human?

When you abort a baby, you abort a real life. It is wrong to say that the baby is not alive. How can something that has a heartbeat NOT be alive? The mother’s body might be used as an incubator or life support machine, but even people in the hospital on life support are still human and living beings. If something is alive and someone ends that life, then it is murder. If an elderly person who could not survive on his own was killed, it would be murder. Abortion is no different. These are just a few facts to consider when making your personal decision about abortion.
