Cooler, shorter days signal the coming of fall and with it apples, apple cider, apple donuts, apple streusel and caramel apples. In Tecumseh Michigan it also signals the upcoming Annual Appleumpkin Festival. On October 10th and 11th, Tecumseh will be celebrating their 16th Annual Appleumpkin Festival. It is held in conjunction with Kapnick Orchard’s 11th Apple Festival, which makes it a day for double fun and excitement.
Tecumseh’s Appleumpkin Festival is held throughout the city. It is where the whole family can enjoy the Midway Races and Carnival games. For the lover of fine antiquities and treasures, there will be the Antique Street Fair and Flea Market. If you’re a lover of art be sure not to miss Art Attack which is a juried arts and crafts show. Don’t have a scarecrow for your front yard this Halloween? Make your own at the Make-it-Take-it Scarecrow Tent. There will also be live entertainment to listen too after or before visiting the fairs food vendors. This is only the beginning to the fall festivities in Tecumseh, don’t forget on Halloween, Saturday October 31st, from noon to 2 pm trick or trick at Tecumseh’s participating businesses.
After enjoying the day in Tecumseh bop on over to Kapnick Orchard’s. This is their 31st Apple Festival where the whole family will be sure to have a great time. Enjoy fresh apples, apple cider, and donuts. Kapnick Orchard has over 50 varieties of apples to pick and if you want to pick your own, they also supply the bags. Reasonably priced you can pick your own McIntosh, Empire, Jonathan, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Braeburn, Cortland, and Northern Spys. This year, apples are $13.00 a bushel and $8.00 for half a bushel. A peck is $5.00. The Apple Festival includes lots of exciting things like the Greenhouse with kid’s activities; pick your own apples and pumpkins. Take a wagon ride or visit the petting zoo. Be sure to also not miss perusing food booths. Around September 15th make sure to start getting your fresh pressed cider. Be sure not to miss the Children’s talent show and the craft booths.
