Lucasarts and Rocksteady have announced two more blockbuster games at this year’s Video Game Awards. This year’s VGA’s are replete with megahits such as Ghostbusters, Arkham Asylum, and Assassin’s Creed.
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Batman: Arkham Asylum has been nominated for Game of the Year, and the studio that produced it, Rocksteady, has been nominated for Studio of the Year. Fantastic animation and gritty visuals that bespeak the Batman franchise assault your senses in this star studded game.
Arkham Asylum has one of the hottest properties in Batman, with an all-star cast including award-nominated Mark Hamill as the Joker and Arleen Sorkin as Harley Quinn. This game follows Batman as he gets to his inner demons the more and more he talks to the Joker in Arkham Asylum and the Dark Knight must escape.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was a megahit in 2008 and Lucas Arts is coming out with another game in the series. Based upon a side story of the Star Wars saga when a rogue Sith Lord lays waste to the Empire in between the times of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, stunning visuals and gameplay made the game revolutionary with its lightsaber play and shoot ’em up style.
In 2008, The Force Unleashed became the fastest selling Star Wars game ever in typical Lucasarts style. Intense, fast action and incredible swordplay with the Wii system made this game an interactive hit that has sold more than six million copies.
Game trailers for both games were released at the Video Game Awards amidst oohs, aahs, and thunderous applause. Nintendo’s Wii gaming system has taken gaming to a new level with Lucasarts’ Star Wars properties as the Wii controllers are perfect for gamers who wish to experience lightsaber duels on a whole new level. Batman’s Arkham Asylum took the internal workings of Bruce Wayne’s mind to an unhealthy new level that made it one of the best games in the franchise for diehards.
The big three gaming platforms will be gearing up for brisk sales this holiday season, and if both gaming companies are smart both properties will be ready by Christmas to boost sales even more as per many strategies in the marketing world to get products out cheaper. Currently, all three gaming consoles are at their lowest prices ever just in time for holiday shoppers.
