Winter has officially arrived in the Pacific Northwest. The cold air and the wind can be drying to delicate face skin. When are skin dries out it looks splotchy, red, and more wrinkled. The winter can truly wreak havoc to our facial skin. During these harsh months we can offer our skin a little bit of relief by utilizing face washes that are mild and extra moisturizing. The facial cleanser is one of the most important tools in maintaining a healthy look to our skin. Facial cleansers can lessen the effects of aging, help minimize wrinkles, and even fight breakouts.
I have always been a face wash junkie. I adore trying different brands during the various seasons. Many people stick to one particular brand that they feel fits their skin which is fine but I have found that by trying different face washes for different times of the month my skin ends up with many added benefits. Women tend to be slaves of their hormones throughout our 28 day cycle. We can suffer from dry flaky skin one week and have an eruption of blemishes the next depending on our hormone levels and the weather. Various outdoor activities will also cause our skin to react differently and will make us require a different cleaning and moisturizing regime. If have been outside in harsh cold wind then my face will require a bit more pampering then my skin during a wet winter day. The same can be said if I hang out beside the wood stove too much and my skin starts to dry out. Our skin is an every changing and evolving things so it does require that we own a wide range of cleaners, clarifier’s, and moisturizers. Here are five of my top winter time choices.
1) Cetaphil Face Skin Cleanser
I like this face cleanser when I am suffering breakouts due to hormones. I do not use this face cleanser all month or it would be too drying for my mature skin. I only utilize it if I have an eruption of dreaded zits during my period. I know that they make the claim that their product is safe for everyday usage and will not dry out your skin but I have found this to not be true with my skin. As I said, I like to utilize it when I am suffering breakouts because it seems to work quite well for this. I also always choose the Gentle Cetaphil Cleanser.
2) Olay Total Effects Facial Cleansing Cloths
I adore these face cleansing clothes. They contain a bit of beta hydroxy which helps to fight breakouts, remove dead skin cells to replenish skin, and the clothes also have a touch of moisturizer. After I use these my face always feels wonderful. There is no dry or tight feeling but a nice smoothness that is fantastic. I like to use these in the morning before I put on my makeup. These clothes are also quite cheap. I pick them up at Wal Mart for under $10.00.
3) RoC Age Diminishing Facial Cleanser With Soy Extract
I purchased this cleanser not too long ago to try and I like the results. I have used it when my skin feels especially dry after being outside in the wind and cold. It conditions wonderfully and leaves my skin feeling nice and smooth. I don’t think I would want to use every day because I would worry that it would eventually cause breakouts even though it says that it won’t. My skin is very sensitive to breakouts so I have to watch this closely. However, for a nice deep moisturizing cleanser that I can use once in awhile this is truly wonderful. I purchased a bottle of it at Wal Greens for less then $10.00.
4) Loreal 360 Facial Cleanser with Scrublet for Sensitive Skin
I purchased this facial cleanser because I like Loreal products and I wanted to try the scrublet. I have to tell you that the scrublet is hype, if you ask me. It doesn’t do anything that your fingers won’t do. Despite this the cleanser is a wonderful product just like I expected from Loreal. It is gentle on my skin and I adored that it came with Shea butter. My skin was quite windburned one day and I used this cleanser. It did not burn my skin and left it feeling soft. The next day the windburn was gone. I would not use any facial cleanser every day that contains Shea butter because I would worry about breakouts but when my skin needs to be soothed this worked wonderfully.
5) St. Ives Apricot Scrub
I know that a lot of people consider St Ives to be cheap but I have always liked their skin care products despite the low price tag. I adore the Apricot Scrub to remove dead skin cells from the harsh winter. This cleanser works like magic and leaves my skin glowing. It would be harsh for every day usage but once a week is ideal. I have always been a fan of Apricot Scrubs since I was a teenager. St Ives Apricot Scrub is cheap and works wonderful. When I was younger I used it more then once a week but with mature skin I feel once a week is ideal. I truly does leave your skin tingling and glowing.
These are five of my favorite wintertime facial cleansers that I personally use every single month. I highly recommend any of these products.
