Last night on Big Brother 11, viewers who don’t subscribe to the live feeds got to see how Thursday night’s Head of Household endurance competition panned out.
It was a grueling competition indeed, with the houseguests spinning around and around on a carousel-like contraption, then being pelted by a giant foam high school diploma, while being rained on.
The first 5 contestants to fall off lost their chance at being HOH for the week, but they got to pick a prize box. Kevin and Lydia were the first down, followed by Ronnie, Natalie and Jordan. Chima and Michelle fought hard until the end but were down after a couple of hours.
The final two were Jeff and Russell. Clocking in at over three hours, they ask the other houseguests to go inside so they could talk. Jeff and Russell agreed that they both want Ronnie out. Russell, whose father recently had surgery, swore on his dad’s life that if Jeff let him have the HOH, he would keep both Jeff and Jordan safe. He said he only wanted HOH so he could get a letter from his “Pops”, who recently had surgery. Jeff had to ask Russell three times if he would swear on his dad, before Russell finally said, “I promise you. On my dad”.
Jeff felt fairly confident when he jumped off the carousel. But on Big Brother, deals are broken all the time.
When Russell showed off his Head of Household room, there was a letter from his Pops, which confirmed what Russell had said about the surgery. You could see the relief on Jeff’s face. Then there was the usual schmoozing as people like Jessie, Natalie and Ronnie try to kiss up to the HOH. Jeff and Russell also met and decided to team up.
Ronnie asked Russell point blank if he was safe and Russell assured him yes, he had nothing to worry about. That was Russell’s only lie that night.
When it came time for the nomination ceremony, Russell pulled Jeff’s key out first, deeming him safe. One by one, names like Jessie, Natalie and Jordan came out of the box. The nominees ended up being Lydia and Ronnie. The look on Ronnie’s face was priceless. Lydia looked stunned too.
Russell gave a speech that will go down in Big Brother history, even if it was a bit overly dramatic, calling Ronnie out for some of his sleazy tactics. He then called Ronnie a snake and proclaimed that he (Russell) is a mongoose and the mongoose always kills the snake. Later, in the diary room, Ronnie made fun of Russell’s speech and said that he’s a King Cobra, which kills the mongoose. Okay….
Love Russell or hate him, at least the man kept his word. Well, at least to everyone except King Cobra….
