Britney Spears on Letterman was the latest Letterman much-talked about event, as Britney Spears returned on Letterman for the first time in three years. But Britney Spears couldn’t be on Letterman in person because Spears is doing her “Circus” tour. So Britney Spears was on Letterman in a taped version of Letterman’s Top 10. Spears let people imagine what life would be like if she were the president.
The Britney Spears on Letterman appearance was yet another get for David Letterman, as he increases his lead in the late night battles. For Britney Spears, she got to be in on the usual jokes about herself, and show off her body once again.
Spears went on Letterman in just her bikini, as she delivered the “Top 10 Ways The Country Would Be Different If Britney Spears Was The President.” That is an odd topic for Spears to do on Letterman – but considering how the Republicans attacked Barack Obama’s celebrity status, they would go more apocalyptic if someone with Spears’s massive celebrity was in charge.
While Spears did her top 10, David Letterman tried to predict how many different poses she would do in her bikini. Spears did quite a few, as she presented a world in which the U.S. would invade “fun places like Cabo”, smoke Osama out with Spears’ new fragrance, put a nightclub on the moon – and introduce Vice President Diddy.
But the biggest way the country would chance under President Spears is that the media would finally pay some attention to her. In truth, before Britney Spears went on Letterman, the country was a bit more obsessed with health care, and with nude celebrity scandals that had nothing to do with Spears.
Since Spears has been on good behavior on her “Circus” tour, and since other female celebrities are getting into nudity scandals, Britney has been falling back a bit on the gossip sheets. So going on Letterman in a bikini helped to reverse that for a while.
Britney Spears last went on Letterman three years ago, right after her split from Kevin Federline. With her latest Letterman appearance, it gives another boost to Letterman’s growing clout, as he continues to outpace Conan O’Brien’s Tonight Show in the ratings, and get the most headline-making guests. At the least, Letterman will get into less trouble with this political top 10 than he did during the infamous Sarah Palin scuffle.
Spears now moves on to the second part of her “Circus” tour, where opening acts like Jordan Sparks and Kristina DeBarge will join her.
