According to their official website, the Country Duo Brooks and Dunn announced to their fans that they are going to call it quits. They state on the website “This ride has been everything and more than we could have ever dreamed….We owe it all to you, the fans.” Their Last Rodeo Tour in 2010 will be their last.
Brooks and Dunn entered the entertainment industry in 1991 and were a big success. After almost 20 years of making music as a duo, they say it is time to “call it a day”. I’m sure there are many fans who will be disappointed to hear his news.
According to UPI.com, the Country duo has won the Country Music’s Vocal Duo of the Year Award every year except one from 1992 until 2006.
Bio of the duo
Kix Brooks, (Leon Eric Brooks, III) was born in 1955 in Shreveport La. He worked the club scene in Alaska and Maine before moving to Nashville in 1979. He now lives down the street from his partner Dunn in Brentwood Tenn., an upscale suburb of Nashville. Brooks attended Louisiana Tech. University and majored in theater arts. Brooks married in 1981 to Barbara. They have 2 children, Molly and Eric.
His first solo single, Baby, when your heartbreaks down, was released in 1983. It was a flop, so he returned to songwriting after that. He released an albumin in 1989, Kix Brooks, on Capitol Records. It had the song “Sacred Ground”, which became #2 country hit for McBride and theRide in 1992.
As half of the Brooks and Dunn duo, Brooks usually provided back up vocals on their songs and singles.
Ronnie Dunn, was born in Coleman Tx., to a father who sang country music and a bible believing, church going mother. According to brooks-dunn.com, Ronnie states that “Music was about the only constant in life.” Ronnie went to 13 schools in 12 years. I can’t imagine a child having to move that frequently.
In 1990, Dunn wound up in Nasville, Tn., and Tim Dubois introduces him to Kix Brooks.
Their initial pairing was in 1991 and they formed a partnership that has lasted almost 20 years. Dunn usually serves as the lead singer, while Brooks provides backup and works the stage. The duo has been at the top of the Country music chart 23 times. They have won 20 CMA Awards, and 26 Academy of Country Music Awards. In 2006, Dunn won best Gospel songwriter of the year by the Gospel Music Assoc.
Dunn is married to Janine and they have three children.
The dates for their “Last Rodeo Tour” have not been announced, you can watch for them at brooks-dunn.com
