Times are tougher than usual now but we all need a break from the drudge of every day ‘cheap living’. This is the season for clearance prices on outdoor items including patio furniture. This is the perfect opportunity to get something nice that will last (i.e. not just a quick fix for the moment) for years.
Buy Patio Furniture Now?
By this time of year, you have had the whole summer to dream about what pieces of patio furniture and accessories you would really use. Would it be the sit-around-it dining table or the lounge-around armchairs and coffee tables? A gas grill to replace the old charcoal one? Or vice versa? You might even have done some ‘window shopping’, just looking at what you would like. Well, the prices are as low as they will be right now! Most of the big stores like Target and Lowes have lowered the prices on their patio and outdoor furniture and accessories this month. Even your nearest Wal-Mart-maybe not your first choice to shop for patio furniture, but hey! Give them a look online at least-is cutting prices for end of the season. Not to your taste? How about IKEA? Same story, nicer stuff.
Why is it Cheap Now?
There are several reasons for this. First, realize patio furniture is not cheap this time of year because the merchandise is no good. The bulk of the season is over and without lowering the price the store will not likely sell the remaining stock. They would rather not ship the items back to the manufacturer with the resultant paperwork and shipping and damage costs. Likewise, they don’t want to store the items until next spring and still have to sell them at discount as ‘last years model’.
What Do I Do With Patio Furniture This Winter?
Speaking of storing patio furniture all winter, winter storage is one thing you need to think about when buying now. If the garage is full and so is the storage building, it is not at all cheap to buy Patio Furniture, use it a month and then put it in a storage unit. You waste all your savings that way. One simple thing you can do is buy covers (also on sale) to keep them in a sheltered spot outdoors. The covers are good for keeping them clean and free of sun-bleaching all summer, too. Or just maybe this can be the motivation to clear out some old stuff, have a garage sale and make both money and room for the new patio furniture! :)
We live in the south and the season is actually just beginning again. After the too-hot summer months, we have a spell of beautiful weather from now until about Thanksgiving. After that, with a patio heater or fire pit (also on sale now!) you can still spend some time outside until Christmas or New Years. And of course grilling goes on all year long, and they, too are-you guessed it! On clearance now!
