Calorie Burning Fall Activities

by sawpan

Fall is my favorite season. You can still go out without a coat, for the most part; but you can also wear fabulous sweaters, boots, scarves and hats that really add color to the season. Not to mention the beautiful leaves, that match the variety of wind in the Fall air. However during Fall many people start slowing down on their exercise. Instead of burning calories they begin the cycle of becoming lax and packing on those winter pounds early. Just because the air is a bit cooler outside; don’t let that stop you from burning calories! This article lists several activities you can take part in during the Fall, that will burn off those calories in no time.

  1. Playing with the kids. Whether you’re a parent an aunt an uncle or just a loving neighbor, playing with the youth in your area, will burn off calories fast. Have you ever noticed how children simply bundle up and get out and play no matter what the weather? Well join in the fun by running and playing with the group and you’ll burn calories without even knowing it.
  2. Biking in the Fall is great as well. There are plenty of days to get the wheels rolling before it gets too cold. If you have a local forest preserve, bike the trail and enjoy God’s creation. The colors on the trees in the preserve or just around your home will make biking such a pleasurable experience, that you’ll log 2 or 3 miles, before you ever know it.
  3. Fall is also a good time to get the house in order. You can burn calories while winterizing your home. Do things like: caulking windows to prevent cold air from seeping in and hot air from leaking out. Also make sure to put in more insulation where needed. Cleaning the chimney to burn winter fires is also a good idea. All of these Fall home remedies will make you feel good about facing winter and getting some exercise to boot.
  4. Getting friends together to exercise in-doors. If some Fall days are a bit too cold to go out, take turns visiting with friends to form work-out groups. This is clearly a calorie burning activity and also great fun. You can enjoy the company of friends who also want to remain healthy during this wonderful season.
  5. As mentioned previously, cleaning the fireplace is a Fall activity that can burn some calories. Now it’s time to cut the wood to burn those winter fires! You can save loads of money by using a fireplace, instead of always turning on the heat. Or turn the heat down a bit and use your fireplace more. Remember to check first to see what types of wood are good for burning fires. Have fun with your spouse or friends to see who can chop the most wood. If you don’t have a fireplace, cutting wood for the needy or elderly is also a good deed and a good calorie burner.
  6. Walking your pets on a regular basis this Fall will burn calories too. This is an activity you shouldn’t avoid, as pets need to be walked and can benefit from the fresh Fall air. You can offer to walk a pet for the elderly or disabled if you don’t have one yourself.
  7. Fall shopping in the largest city near you, can be one of the most pleasurable calories burners. Make sure you find the nearest large city so you can do some walking while you shop or window shop. Simply walking from store to store in a large downtown area is wonderful and pleasurable exercise. Just don’t spend too much money. If you go to an inside mall make sure you circle the entire place a couple of times and again limit your spending amount. The goal here is to burn calories, not a hole in your wallet.
  8. Learning or practicing your skating before winter hits. Whether it’s roller skating, in line skating or ice-skating. Skating really can really burn calories in any season and can be done in doors or out.
  9. Have an old school house party with your close friends. A real house party where everyone is dancing their fat right off is the best kind. Get together some of your favorite old school songs and start sending out the invitations. Wall flowers who can’t boogie, need not come!
  10. Last but not least, if the Fall day outside is just too blustery, then cozy up for some one on one time with your mate. You’ll get closer, have a blast and burn some calories too!
