You are the creator of yourself. What you make yourself to be now, you will be in the future. What you are now, is precisely what you have made yourself to be in the past. What you sow, you shall reap. — G. de Purucker, Golden Precepts of Esotericism, p. 104
To carve your own destiny you must believe in yourself and your power to change things. We are changing all the time; our thoughts, emotions and actions help us progress and sometimes regress.
A person’s belief in their ability to ‘achieve’ their destiny can determine how much effort and work they put into their aims. Others might see a person as being ‘fortunate’ without respecting all the time and labour they’ve put in to be successful. Someone might decide they’re unlucky as an excuse for giving up when if they just made a tiny bit more effort, they too could be successful. Hard work and Destiny in this respect go hand in hand. Destiny is therefore not just a result of belief but of frame-of-mind and psychological purpose.
Destiny and Astrology
You may be happy with how far you have come in life, or you might feel you have lost your way. When such a realization occurs, the sway of karma can be altered; your life’s purpose might take on a new direction.
At every moment in time, therefore, you stand at the base of a potential new destiny. You have the tools of destiny in your hand. In the tarot, these are the Cups, Wands, Swords and Coins. In Astrology, our Destiny is ‘Written in the Stars’ and the planets are the astrologer’s tool to help a person develop and grow.
Every moment, then, can be looked on as a new starting point and your life will unfold and grow from this very moment.
Taking Control of Your Destiny
Your thoughts and actions now can and will decide your future events. Feeling more in control will bring a sense of greater freedom, deeper understanding in relationships, attract new friends and opportunities, new exciting possibilities.
You can only go and grow from the point at which you have arrived. Will you drift along the river of life, enjoying life’s pleasures and suffering without asking why? Or will you learn from what you are going through and take this learning with you into the future?
If you believe in Karma, you must believe in Destiny. Thread by thread, everyone weaves their own destiny and this destiny might be guided either by psychic awareness, intuition, astrology, tarot, I-Ching or other tools. These will help propel you forward and onward but ultimately, the decision, the choice and the action is yours. This is Karma; this is your Destiny.
