If you like Asian foods, Oriental dining, chopsticks, and good eats, then either of these restaurants can provide: Which one is best? Read on to find out.
While visiting the Houston / Galveston area, we were fortunate to find many all-you-can-eat buffets of the Asian persuasion. What makes these Asian buffets great in this area of Texas is the selection of fresh seafood and sushi to go along with the traditional stir fries, beef and broccoli, and sweet and sour sauces.
Compared to where I live, in the Permian Basin area of West Texas, the Asian buffets in the Houston area blew away the ones I’m used to eating at. Of all the Chinese buffets in the Houston / Galveston area that we tried, my two favorite were: Center Buffet and King Buffet.
Center Buffet is located at 112 Gulf Freeway N in League City, TX.
King Buffet is located at 3110 FM 528 Rd in Webster, TX.
Comparing Décor between Center Buffet and King Buffet
Of the two restaurants, King Buffet is the newer looking of the two and in a more high-traffic shopping center, but when you walk into Center Buffet it blows away King Buffet for décor. Center Buffet has plenty of space, large tables, gorgeous flowers and carpeting and colors and long tables full of buffet food.
King Buffet is not grandiose, but the atmosphere is nice, the small restaurant is spotlessly clean, and the tables and chairs are very cute, though not all that comfortable.
Comparing Food Selection between Center Buffet and King Buffet
Again, Center Buffet comes in a winner, with the large, long serving tables of food, with selections from sushi to soups and from beef to pork and chicken. The night we went, it was late, and the selections were still fresh and abundant. If you go to eat after 5 p.m., you’ll be treated to peel and eat shrimp, oysters on the half shell, and fresh crab legs and other seafood selections.
King Buffet offers all of your favorite seafood and Asian selections too, but with a smaller selections and smaller buffet tables. Also, King Buffet serves peel and eat shrimp, sushi and oysters after 5 p.m., but their shrimp seemed to be thawed frozen shrimp and didn’t have nearly the flavor or appearance of Center Buffet’s fresh seafood.
Comparing Prices between Center Buffet and King Buffet
The prices between the two restaurants are about the same, with King Buffet coming in a little bit cheaper than Center Buffet, particularly for dinner. However, keep in mind that Center Buffet has a larger selection and a better décor to make up for the slight difference in price.
Comparing Wait Staff between Center Buffet and King Buffet
King Buffet, by far, had the friendliest staff between the two Oriental buffet restaurants. We were greeted at the door by a hostess, and our waitress was ready with fresh plates and refills throughout the meal.
While the service at Center Buffet was good, King Buffet’s staff was simply more attentive.
I’d actually recommend either Center Buffet or King Buffet if you are in the Houston / Galveston area and are looking for an all-you-can-eat buffet for Asian food. Location and proximity to where you are coming from should make the decision easy for you, as both locations are comparable and you won’t be disappointed with either one.
