Three of my 6 girls are tweens, and I’ve recently been putting some thought into some extra gifts that won’t put me over the budget after buying some of their more significantly expensive Christmas gifts. Then, I thought of making some homemade gift bags with some of their favorite small types of toys and items that keep them happy. Here’s what I came up with.
Decorating the Homemade Gift Bag
I thought I would go get a package of white lunch bags for these, but if those aren’t available the brown ones will work too. Then I thought I’d use a paintbrush to brush some Elmer’s glue on both sides of each bag and sprinkle on some red and green glitter, or silver and gold would work well also. Once these are dry, it’s time to fill them with some fun little Christmas gifts! Your bag could follow a specific theme or just be a combination of a few things they like.
Be it scrungies, barrets, headbands, small brushes, combs or picks, there’s alot of hair supplies that are inexpensively priced, especially at the dollar stores. I’ve found 2 dollar packages of assorted hair accessories at Walgreens as well. Those seem to go a long way when filling up gift bags for girls.
What tween doesn’t love making creative crafty projects? This would make a great gift bag theme. There’s so much to choose from too. From little foam shapes, google eyes, fabric paint, glitter, glue, beads and more. She’ll have a great time discovering all the fun new craft supplies and thinking of things to make!
Markers and Colored Pencils
If you have a tween girl that’s wild about drawing like I do, consider putting some cool drawing supplies in her bag. There’s so many varieties of markers to choose from now. My girls like to use colored pencils for some of their drawings, sometimes markers. Pastels are another great option to include here as well.
Nail Polish and Cosmetics
Nothing makes these girls as happy as some fun cosmetics, and nail polish is at the top of their list. You can find cheap brands at Walgreens for $.99. With prices like that you can fill her Christmas bag full with lots of fun vibrant colors to keep her occupied. You can also include some inexpensive blush and applicator brushes to fill this bag plenty full!
What tween girl is going to turn lots of fun gum away? These girls thrive on that stuff! Get some yummy bubble gum like Bazooka. Hubba Bubba, Bubblicious or some brands like Five, Stride and Orbit. Those seem to be the popular brands around the house among my tweens. They’ll love a bag full of this fun!
Hows that for some tween Christmas fun? Hopefully you’ve gained a few ideas here to help get you started on some Christmas bags that will give your tween girl some great holiday memories!
