Christina Hendricks was among the fashion stars again in Emmy Awards 2009 fashion. As always, Christina Hendricks had Mad Men fans waiting in anticipation for what she would wear to the Emmy Awards. Hendricks made her big red carpet debut in the 2008 Emmys, and showed off her famed figure with a blue ensemble for the 2009 Emmy Awards. And while Christina Hendricks and the Mad Men cast celebrated another Emmy triumph, a new Mad Men episode aired that could be part of next year’s Emmy submissions for Hendricks and the show.
Christina Hendricks has sizzled up the offices of Sterling Cooper for about three years now as Joan Holloway – or rather, Joan Harris nowadays. Hendricks’ status as the most curvy woman on television was reinforced on last year’s Emmy red carpet, as her skin-tight green dress caught some eyes.
For the Emmy Awards 2009 fashion red carpet, Hendricks went with blue this time, to the same effect as usual. She also grabbed attention inside the Emmy theater, as Neil Patrick Harris took notice of her in his opening song – then took a quick look at Jon Hamm before Hendricks could turn Harris straight.
Hendricks’ latest fashion statement comes as she is working on her upcoming wedding. In the process, she has been going on a diet . But January Jones spoke for all of Hendricks’ fans, when she told People that she hoped Hendricks didn’t lose her figure in the process.
While Hendricks and Mad Men celebrated the Emmy win for their second season, the show’s third season continued on. AMC aired a new episode right around the time that Mad Men won their Emmy – with Joan at the center of much of it.
Joan’s tenure as the Queen Bee of Sterling Cooper came to an end, at least temporarily, as she prepared to leave the office. Of course, she resigned before her rapist doctor husband didn’t get promoted to surgeon, meaning that Joan needs another job fast. But Joan did save the day after the most gruesome scene in the history of Mad Men took place.
The episode was proclaimed the best of the season thus far, as fans wrote that Hendricks may want to submit this episode for Emmy consideration next year. For all the heads she turns at the red carpet, she hasn’t been nominated herself yet.
But before Hendricks can get nominated, the Emmys have to honor the rest of the cast first. For all of Mad Men’s Emmy success, the cast has gone home empty, as Jon Hamm and John Slattery have lost twice in a row, Elisabeth Moss lost last night, and January Jones and Vincent Kartheiser haven’t been nominated yet either.
