The CMA awards 2009 winners were unveiled in another big CMA awards spectacular. But though the CMA awards 2009 winners were diverse for the most part, one CMA awards 2009 winner got more attention than most. Taylor Swift is coming to dominate country music, or at least dominate publicity for it. So the CMA awards 2009 winners mostly had to look up at Taylor Swift all night, as she got four of the major CMA awards last night.
The CMA awards 2009 winners were more than Taylor Swift, however – at least when the show started. There was room for Lady Antebellum to win Vocal Group of the Year, Jamey Johnson to win Song of the Year for “In Color” and Darius Rucker to win Best New Artist of the Year. But when the big awards came, the CMA awards belonged mainly to one name.
Taylor Swift soared to the top of the CMA awards 2009 charts by winning for Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year, Music Video of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. Swift is the youngest performer to ever win Entertainer of the Year, as 2009 has become one big coming-out party.
The tide for Taylor Swift has been unstoppable over the last several months, even if she has to endure constant references to Kanye West. Just a few days after winning praise for hosting Saturday Night Live, Swift became the undisputed queen of country music at the CMA awards.
Skeptics will probably say that the CMAs just got swept along by Swift’s rising popularity. Yet considering how Swift has risen to the top this quickly at such a young age, it may be pretty easy to get swept along.
The CMA awards 2009 winners made other history in non-Swift related categories. Rucker became the second African-American performer to be a major CMA winner, while Lady Antebellum snapped the six-year winning streak of Rascal Flatts in the vocal group award. Brad Paisley also took home Male Vocalist of the Year and Event of the Year for “Start a Band” with Keith Urban.
