Halloween is right around the corner. I can picture the little children’s expectant faces as they hold out their trick and treat bags and await your donation. The stores are full of assorted costumes, bags of candy and Halloween decorations. And, hopefully, the book stores are full of all the cozy mysteries with Halloween themes. A lot of our regular cozy mystery authors have written Halloween stories, and a few authors only write cozy mysteries that take place on the holidays. Here is a list of some of those Halloween cozies for you to take to the Library or book store with you. Hurry and start reading for soon the little ghosts and goblins will be ringing your doorbell.
Lillian Jackson in her The Cat Who… series wrote a Halloween based cozy called “The Cat Who Talked to Ghosts”. Animal lovers this one is for you.
In her Scrapbooking Series, Laura Childs wrote a Halloween cozy mystery called “Frill Kill”. Here is a Scrapbooking and Halloween cozy for all the scrapbooking fans out there.
If you like the craft theme, read Terri Thayers’ Halloween cozy from her Stamping Sisters Mystery Series. This cozy mystery is called “Inked Up”.
Monica Ferris helps us out with a cozy mystery for Halloween in her Needlecraft Mystery Series with a Halloween book titled “Blackwork”.
For the Culinary folks, the Murder with a Recipe Series by Isis Crawford includes a Halloween treat called “Catered Halloween”.
Add Joanne Fluke to your list of Halloween cozy mysteries for another sweet treat. “Fudge Cupcake Mystery” is part of the Hannah Swenson Series that she writes.
Let’s not forget the Lucy Stone Mysteries written by Leslie Meier. Her “Trick or Treat Murder” is definitely a Halloween cozy mystery for you to enjoy.
Carolyn Hart incorporates a Halloween cozy in her Death on Demand Series. “Southern Ghost” is the name of Carolyn’s contribution to our list.
And, we can’t list cozy mysteries without listing the Murder She Wrote book that has a Halloween theme. Jessica Fletcher would certainly fall under the cozy mystery category. The title of this Donald Bain book is “Trick or Treachery”.
For a different twist, our last two authors of cozy mysteries write series that only happen during holidays. Jane Haddam writes a series called the Gregor Demarkian Series. Gregor usually meets up with one of his friends on Holidays and they spend their vacation time solving some crime. They met several times around Halloween, so you have two of these cozy mysteries to read. Pick from “Skeleton Key” or “Quoth the Raven”. If you can’t decide, just read them both.
“All Hallow’s Eve” is written by Valerie Wolzien. It is part of the Susan Henshaw series. All of the books in this series also take place around the holidays.
So, treat yourself to a Halloween cozy mystery or two. We better hurry and get started, because Thanksgiving and Christmas are not far behind.
