It never fails! Every year at the holidays there are always unexpected visitors or gift exchanges that leave us at a loss for gift giving ideas. This year instead of running out to buy a pricey gift or being left a gift short, try having some of these inexpensive, creative gifts available. They are very universal and are sure to please any recipient that may receive them.
Cookie Mix In A Jar
The hardest part of this project is deciding on which type of cookie recipe to use. For this project you need a quart size mason jar or glass candy jar with a secure lid; the dry ingredients for your cookie recipe mix; and, a recipe to attach. Layer each of the dry ingredients in the jar using an alternate method. (For example-flour, brown sugar, chocolate chips, salt, flour, brown sugar, chocolate chips, baking soda, etc.) When you are finished filling the container, replace the lid securely. If using a regular mason jar, you can add a decorative touch by placing a piece of holiday material over the lid and securing it in place with a piece of ribbon. Attach the recipe card so that your recipient knows how much butter, milk, eggs, etc. That they will need to add. Attach the recipe to the jar with a piece of ribbon.
Movie Night In A Box
This is a very simple gift exchange idea. This gift consists of a box of microwave popcorn, a large serving bowl, and either a new release movie that can be enjoyed by your recipient or a gift card to a movie rental store. If you would like, you can add additional items to this gift. Some ideas would be a throw blanket and/or a gift certificate to a pizza restaurant. You can either place the items in a simple cardboard box or use one of those large popcorn tins that you have been wondering what to do with.
Candy Dish Delight
You can use any container that you would like such as an inexpensive candy jar; open, flat candy dish, or even a decorative tin. Fill your container with either a mixture of Christmas theme candies or homemade treats such as your favorite fudge recipe, rock candy or chocolates.
Inexpensive Meat and Cheese Sample Alternative
For this gift you can choose to either use a cutting board or serving tray as your base. Attach a salami or beef stick, either one or two flavors of cheese and a cheese slicer. These items can easily be attached to the cutting board or serving tray with a small amount of boxing tape on the backside of each item. Wrap your finished project completely with plastic wrap to help hold all your items in place. If you would like to add an extra holiday touch, use a holiday themed plastic wrap.
