As we become more and more conscious of the environment and the way that our actions affect it, we continue to try and make things right by curbing our tendency to buy mass produce items and buy items made of out recycled materials instead. It’s not a perfect solution by any means, but I’m pro-stuff and I’m pro-petty indulgences, so it’s great by me. If you want cute shoes, but also want to be eco-friendly, then this article is for you.
Eco-friendly shoes are a notoriously ugly breed, but I’ve compiled a list of five pairs that are stylish, awesome and relatively cheap.
First up is this pair by OlsenHaus. This cute teal pair is one hundred percent vegan, and they come with a hip paint splatter design. You could wear these wedges with practically anything and have them just pull your whole look together. My advice is to think plain in the clothing department, and then just let your shoes do the talking.
The price is steep, but the designers’ dedication to the vegan movement and admittance of how dangerous the leather industry is really moving.
Another pair worth checking out is this shiny woman’s sneaker by Cushe Urban. At 90.00 it’s not for the faint of heart (or for the typically broke college student), but you should definitely check them out. With suede features and all the comfort of non-environmentally conscious shoes, this are a good investment. Especially when you consider how much use you’ll get out of the pair. (Nikes will run you just as much.)
Back onto the topic of sneakers, while those Cushe Urbans have your Nike wants covered, these sneakers are totally your Hippie Converse. Cute, unassuming, reasonably priced and available in olive green, light blue, black and white, these will go with pretty much any outfit and style.
These Form & Fauna flats were so stunning that I just had to devote a section to them. Referred to as a “dove shoe,” they’re so gorgeous I don’t know what to do with them. Regularly $241.00 , now on sale for $121.00, they’re totally out there, but they are so gorgeous that people will not even care that they’re vegan – they’ll just think they’re high-designer. (Plus they have bamboo heels!)
For the sake of covering all bases, I present to you a pair of boots. Now, I’m no expert in the boot phenomenon of late, but I know that these bad boys are hot, for sure. With cute side buttons, these boots would look great with jeans or a skirt. They’re also one hundred percent eco-friendly and non-ugly.
So there you have it: Five pairs of eco-friendly shoes that are cute.
