Dairy free yogurt is beloved by many people who avoid dairy products for health or spiritual reasons or who just want more variety in their diets. And some of these dairy free yogurts are so good, you don’t even need a special reason.
WholeSoy & Co. Soy Yogurt: This soy yogurt is one of the best. It’s very thick and creamy. It comes in great flavors like Apricot Mango and Mixed Berry which are full of real fruit. It’s also available in plain and vanilla in a convenient 24 ounce size if you prefer to cook up your own concoctions. And this soy yogurt is relatively low in sugar compared to most national brands. You can find this soy yogurt at many Whole Foods stores and other mainstream stores throughout the U.S.
So Delicious Soy Yogurt: I came for the frozen desserts and stayed for the dairy free yogurt. Like many people, my first taste of Turtle Mountain products was their So Delicious dairy free frozen desserts. And their soy yogurt is every bit as good. The texture is very thick and creamy. The selection of flavors is also excellent including Cinnamon Bun, Peach and Vanilla. One nice plus, this soy yogurt is an excellent source of B vitamins which not all dairy free products provide. You can find this soy yogurt in many health food stores and supermarkets including many Whole Foods stores.
So Delicious Coconut Milk Yogurt: This is a newcomer from the same Turtle Mountain company. And it’s another dairy free winner. If you love the tartness of Passion Fruit, try the Passionate Mango. The other fabulous flavors include Chocolate and Pina Colada. And the plain version is great for baking. It is slightly higher in fat than most soy yogurts but it’s worth it. It also has the important B vitamins. It’s not yet available in as many stores as the older soy yogurt line, but start clamoring (or Twittering) and hopefully that will change.
Trader Joe’s Soy Yogurt: If you’re one of those people who like to do all your food shopping at Trader Joe’s, they do have their own soy yogurt. I find it significantly sweeter than most brands but that may appeal to some people including kids. And it’s a bit cheaper than most dairy free brands.
Alpro Soya Yogurt: As you might guess from the spelling, you’re not in Kansas anymore. This soy yogurt is one of Europe’s most popular brands and it’s delicious. One nice feature, the multi pack single servings come in multiple flavors so you don’t get stuck with all Blueberry. And the company was just purchased by Dean Foods (makers of SILK SOYMILK) so maybe you’ll be seeing more of this soy yogurt.
