The Dancing with the Stars 2009 week 5 results show couldn’t have gotten off to a better start – and that’s because dapper Donny Osmond (a.k.a. “Donny Darko”) and his pro dance partner, the ravishing Kym Johnson (*makes growling sounds*), were invited by Len Goodman to dance their awesome Argentine tango once again. And their encore performance was, once again, smoking hot!
Not surprisingly, Donny and Kym were among the three top voter getters; the other couples included Mark and Lacey, and Mya and Dmitry.
When it was announced that Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough were in jeopardy, a lopsided frown spread across Joanna’s face and stayed there until she was told she was safe. And when Aaron and Katrina were told they were in jeopardy, Aaron got that look on his face – a look that can best be described as enormous disappointment backed by a groundswell of potential tears. There’s no way this kid can hide his emotions.
I must confess that I am surprised and disappointed that both Louie Vito and Michael Irvin are still safe. Don’t get my wrong, they’re both wonderful fellows, but DWTS is a dancing competition for God’s sake; it would be a different story if Louie and Michael were showing signs of significant improvement, but, in my opinion, neither of them have been- indeed they both continue to walk and pose through their dance routines.
But I am even more disappointed – profoundly disappointed, in fact – that gorgeous Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlin was voted off the show. How could this be? Remember, this is the dancer that Carrie Ann Inaba says shows exceptional grace and flexibility on the dance floor. Talk about a premature exit! Why, why, why? And it was so clear that Natalie – who appeared to be fighting back tears when told she was leaving – was extremely disappointed. She has been working so hard and desperately wanted to stay in the competition. What a friggn’ travesty of justice.
Sure, the Michael Jackson tribute (performed by the pro dancers with Katherine Jackson, Jermaine Jackson and LaToya Jackson – who introduced the tribute – in the audience) was awesome (why didn’t they use Michael’s original recordings?), and watching the lovely Anna Trebunskaya and her husband, Jonathan Roberts, dance to Nora Jones’ “Come Away with Me” was lovely to watch, but it just can’t take away the profound disappointment that I’m sure not just I feel over Natalie Coughlin’s extremely premature ouster.
So, the Dancing with the Stars 2009 week 5 results show – which had such a promising beginning – crashed and burned in the end.
Natalie, you will be sorely missed.
