Dieting for Success
Don’t give up, remember that weight gain is a gradual process, so losing may take patience. Are you one of those people who will try any diet only to find out that it is not working as advertised? Often people have tried and failed so many diets in their past that when they begin another new diet they are already headed for failure due to negative thoughts. You are the only person who can take control of your dietary needs.
Henry Ford said, “Failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.”
Fad diets are not the answer to successful weight loss. You are the only one who can control the amount of food and how often you eat. Examine whether you are eating from stress or real hunger. You are the only one that can get you on your feet for some exercise. If you are failing at diet after diet it is likely that you need professional advice for the healthiest method to lower your weight.
The best way to select the diet that will give you the most success is to consult your doctor or a professional dietitian and follow their guidelines.
We must all be accountable for our successes and failures in life and dieting is no different. There are medical exceptions for why a person cannot lose weight but your doctor could advise you in that situation.
If you are very obese, it may take longer for others to notice your efforts at weight loss. Don’t give up too soon just because others have not noticed any changes in your appearance. The fit of your clothing will be the best indicator and a great incentive for you to continue with your dietary program.
If it is difficult to diet alone you may be more successful dieting with a partner. Two or more together will be able to set goals, hold each other accountable, share urges to cheat, and exchange low calorie recipes.
Get some extra exercise each day, more than just normal housework or the walking you do around the office. By adding a minimum of thirty minutes each day, and following the dietary plan designed for your needs you should be able to achieve success.
Thomas Alva Edison said: “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”
Do not give up, remember that weight gain is a gradual process therefore, expecting to lose mega pounds in a short time is not being realistic. Take it one day at a time and if you do over eat at some occasion don’t think you are a failure, just get right back on track and soon you will be pleased with your progress.
