There is absolutely no debate about it: fresh water is important for the health of your pet. It can be difficult, however, to keep up with giving your cats and dogs enough fresh, clean water, especially during the working hours. A pet drinking fountain is the ideal solution in these cases, and the Drinkwell 360 is an excellent buy in this category, especially for the multi-pet family.
The Drinkwell 360 holds up to a gallon of water which it filters and pours out through an adjustable fountain. The fountain has five inter-changeable heads, allowing you to select the number of streams, from one to five. You can also adjust the rate of flow of the water. The filtration helps keep your pets drinking water clean, and the five-inch falling stream helps to aerate the water and inhibit bacterial growth. Your pets will have fresher, cleaner water all day long with this fountain.
The Drinkwell 360 has a large basin, just over 12 inches in outside diameter, and a centrally-located fountain. This means that you can give your pets access to the water from all sides. With the adjustable number of streams, you can also pander to the drinking preferences of different pets. One of our cats, Tigris, prefers to drink from the still portions of the basin, while Scar, our other cat, prefers to drink from the flowing stream. With the three-stream head and a fairly low stream strength, both cats are satisfied, and they can easily drink from the fountain at the same time.
With the 360, Drinkwell has made several improvements to their design. The most apparent for many pet owners is with the motor. The Drinkwell 360 runs much quieter than many other water fountains, including earlier Drinkwell models. This means that more pets who would not use other fountains may be drawn to use this one. This was our experience with Tigris. She shunned other, louder drinking fountains, but has taken to using this model with no problems.
The only drawback to the Drinkwell 360 is changing the filters. This process can be complicated the first few times you attempt it, but with practice it does become easier. If you do not reassemble the fountain properly, it will not work, so if you are getting no water through the nozzles, you may have to retry the assembly process.
The Drinkwell 360 is listed as a pet drinking fountain, and my experience is that it makes for an excellent drinking fountain for cats. The size and capacity should make it well suited for small to medium dogs as well. However, with the center fountain and thick walls, it may not be an ideal solution for large dogs.
The Drinkwell 360 is available from on-line purveyors and in pet stores everywhere. The fountain will cost between $55 and $65, and a set of replacement filters will run about $10. It is a little more expensive than some other fountains, but the quality of the product makes it work the price.
