Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls at Universal’s Islands of Adventure is almost like a sibling ride to Jurassic Park River Adventure which is a neighbor not too far away. Just like Jurassic Park River Adventure, Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls is a water log flume attraction that climaxes in a very large drop at the end. Inspired by Jay Ward’s Dudley Do-Right character, Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls begins as you enter a queue-type area where you pass through ‘Snidley Whiplash’s hideout and a theater that spoofs various classic films like Jaws and Star Wars. During the theater section, you witness Nell Fenwick’s character getting kidnapped from a dressing room i.e. the catalyst for the ride’s plot.
The ride’s workers load you into your log and send you off. Dudley Do-Right appears for the first time, vowing to save Nell as you make your way up a lift hill. Along the way up, Snidley laughs like a maniac as he rides a mine cart with his kidnapped prize Nell. Upon reaching the top of the lift hill, you are now taken outdoors, providing you with a decent view of the Islands of Adventure park before entering Wontabee Mine.
After a short sequence in the mine, Snidley appears again and he’s tying Nell to the train tracks along with Horse and Inspector Fenwick. You enter a cave where you can hear (but not see) Dudley Do-Right telling Horse that he’s lost his train of thought then a giant train light shines and the engine fills the room. As soon as the lights go out, your log falls down a medium-sized drop. Upon recovering from the drop, you head outdoors where Dudley Do-Right has become trapped in a sawmill.
The ride drops to ground level and warns passengers with funny signs to turn around and go back. The log climbs a second (and final) lift hill which crests into Snidley’s lair. This is where the ride dives into its climatic 75 foot drop into what appears to be a dynamite shack called Highly Kaboomable. As you pass through the shack, it explodes massively with water. The log goes back uphill for an anti-climatic splash down into a pool before turning around a curve where 9 hoses spray water if a quarter is deposited into the machine.
Before leaving the ride, you pass through a room where Snidley is locked up in jail, trying to get hold of a beaver who has the key to his freedom, then you pass through the final scene where Dudley Do-Right is awarded a medal by Inspector Fenwick for Snidley’s capture and Nell’s rescue. Overall, Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls provides the second water ride with one of the largest climatic drop that results in an epic splash aside from Jurassic Park River Adventure. Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls must be on your to-do list when you visit Universal’s Islands of Adventure, don’t come back home without riding it.
