If you have chosen the road of elimination communication full time or part time or are considering it, you may want to start looking into your diapering alternatives; ecaPants has your baby covered. As a mom who has EC’d three children, I found ecaPants to be a dream come true answer to the later stages of EC with our second child and every stage with our third.
Easy of Use:
FINALLY! A product that is functional for parents practicing elimination communication! We had previously been through the problems of using underwear and cloth diapers. The problem with ECing and underwear is that first, it is very difficult to find in appropriate sizes for ECing babies, and second, they are worthless for a miss. In those first stages of elimination communication it is so vital that parents who are new to the process can celebrate their catches and know that is a victory versuses woeing over misses and ecaPants allow the parent to celebrate the great moments without dwelling on the mess and laundry of misses. When it comes to ECing and cloth diapers, they are good but they are not designed as trainers and don’t pull on and off well. EcaPants are perfectly tailored for a quick potty catch even when out and about. Personally, the aplix (aka Velcro) is my favorite, but snaps are also easy to use. The ecaPants themselves are trim and well cut, comparable to a modest pair of underwear but not as bulky as a typical pocket diaper. There is just enough padding for a typical single miss and the new added option of additional inserts are great for older children and heavy wetters. The capacity is precisely as it should be for functioning as an elimination communication diaper alternative. I really enjoy the function of having the applix pull off from the front and attach in the back. It is not only parent-friendly, but child-friendly as well (which is of such importance for little ones nearing their EC graduation stage).
My children were larger than average kids and ecaPants hugged their chubby rolls gently without leaving red marks or squeezing the life out of them. The softness of the elastic and the expansion of ecaPants seem to indicate they are appropriate for quite a wide range of baby body types.
Easy as pie! If a miss occurs or you are at days end throw them in the wash with minimal detergent and they come clean easily. The fabrics that were chosen by the maker are friendly for both hard and soft water and are not proned to extreme detergent build-up as some common diapering fabrics are.
My biggest complaint is that they weren’t on the market when my first child was ECing. I’d also love the option of buying ecaPants in a package of half dozen because I’m not as committed to my washing machine as I need to be.
EcaPants come in both waterproof and non-waterproof and several different colors and prints. If you are even thinking of ECing I would highly recommend making the choice of ecaPants. A completely brilliant design that has made ECing easier and even more of a joy for our family.
