Braids are making a huge comeback this year 2009 and will be extremely hot in 2010. Braids can be worn casual, classy or sexy. You can make a braid in your hair for prom, wedding, party or every day use.
If you are a girl looking for a unique prom hairstyles or wedding style add a twist to the normal French braid. You can choose a Dutch braid, Swiss braid, Dutch braid bun, Rope braid, Lace braid, Crown braid, or a combination braid. These wonderful braid hairstyles would look great with any prom or wedding dress and you won’t have to accessorize your hair as much.
Dutch braid– A Dutch braid is what I call an inside out French braid. Some may refer to it as an inverted braid. If you know how to do a regular 3 strand braid and a French braid you will have no problem creating the Dutch braid.
Trying to explain how to do some of these complicated braids gets quite confusing to some. So instead I will give you the best websites online that will show you how you can create a Dutch braid for prom or a wedding. Videojug.com, YouTube.com, Wonderhowto.com, Ehow.com, and Dreamweaverbraiding.com all have very easy directions to follow, and awesome pictures.
Swiss Braid– This unique braids requires long to very long hair. The reason why the hair needs to be long is so that the braid can wrap around the entire head comfortably. This braid can be done on shorter hair, but the look will be quite different. If you do the shorter version add some small flowers and rhinestones in between the sections. This will look so elegant. I know this braid to be called the Swiss braid, but others may call it a Heidi braid.
To learn how to make this awesome braid you can check it out at Hairbotique.com. I chose this website, because the details are fabulous, directions are wonderful, and it’s very easy to follow.
Dutch braid bun– I refer to this braid being two separate braids then twisted into a bun. Some people may also refer to it as a double braided bun. This braid is a very classic braid.
To do this braid you will need hair gel, comb, hair elastic, hair pins, couple bobby pins, hair spray, and any hair accessory you would look to use.
Make sure you hair is free of all tangles. Then comb the hair back making sure the top is totally smooth. Gather hair into a ponytail. Make 2 separate braids in the back of your head. Once you have made both braids start wrapping the first braid around the base of the ponytail. Secure the braid in place by using either a hair pin or bobby pin. Then wrap the second braid around the first braid, but make sure the braid is in the middle almost like having a knot.
Place hair pins through out the braid to hold it in place. Then spray with hair spray. To see how this braid looks you can check it out at Videojug.com.
Rope braid– This unique braid is totally amazing looking. If you look closely at this kind of braid it will look like 3-6 braids in a cluster. This braid has a very romantic touch to it. To find out how to create a rope braid you can check it out at Hairstyling.suite101.com.
Other braids you can use for prom or a wedding are fish braid, fishtail braid, ribbon braid, ponytail braid, cornrow braids, multi-strand braid and loose braid.
