Whether a documentary, or a feature film, movies can set your mind in motion. When I see these five films I feel the urge to call a travel agent and book a vacation.
This movie makes me want to go to New York City to see the bar with the same name. Directed by David McNally Coyote Ugly stars Piper Perabo, and John Goodman. Violet, a girl from New Jersey, dreams of making it big as a song writer. Setting her sights on her goal she moves to the city. After many failed attempts and a break in at her apartment , she gets a job at a women run bar that is famous for teasing the male clientele that frequents it. After her dad has a heart attack , she finally gets her chance to show her stuff.
Bringing a desire to go to both Oklahoma and Mexico, Beer For My Horses shows scenes of small farm towns and lively Catina’s. Toby Keith and Rodney Carrington wrote and star in this tale of vigilante justice. “Rack” (Keith) and Lonnie (Carrington) are sheriffs deputies who apprehend the brother of a major drug lord on theft charges. In retaliation the drug lord, with the help of her step father, kidnaps Rack’s girlfriend. Against orders Rack and Lonnie head to Mexico to get her back. Along the way they encounter a hitchhiking prostitute, Willie Nelson as a circus performer, and a couple of flashing girls.
Directed by Jon Turteltaub, National Treasure stars Nicolas Cage, Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha, Jon Voight, and Harvey Keitel. Cage plays Ben Gates a treasure “protector” who wants to clear his family name and keep the treasure from his former investor turned enemy. Gates and his friends follow clues left by the knights templar or masons several of whom were United States founding fathers. When I see the historical New England sights shown in the movie I want to go there.
Recently Disney Channel put out the movie Princess Protection Program . Most of the movie takes place in rural Louisiana where Princess Rosie is forced to hide out after a dictator tries to take over her country. Demi Lovato plays Rosie, and Selena Gomez plays Carter , the daughter of the only person Rosie trusts. I was moved to visit the state by the glimpses of wildlife, and gorgeous bayous.
Another movie that makes me want to travel is The Italian Job starring Charlize Theron, and Mark Wahlberg. While only a small portion of it takes place in Italy, it makes me desire to see Venice first hand. In The Italian Job, a group of men steal a large amount of gold, only to be double crossed by one of their own. The rest of the movie is action packed as they execute a plan to get back at him . They also plan to teach him a lesson , it was NEVER about the money.
