Despite the fact that I haven’t had any alcoholic beverages in a while, I love the taste of a sweet-tasting, delicious wine from time to time. Whenever I am in the mood to indulge myself with alcohol, wine is always my first and only choice, with wine manufactured in Paso Robles, California being a top choice. Of all the wines from Paso Robles that I’ve tried, there are 5 that taste the absolute best. Wine tasting events are a great place to become accustomed to the different wines that Paso Robles has to offer, but you can also try each individual wine yourself, and even have it delivered right to your front door. There are numerous wineries to choose from in Paso Robles as there are over a hundred of them available.
EOS Paso Robles Chardonnay – 2006
This delicious wine manufactured by EOS Estate Winery on Hwy 46 is a real treat. It’s perfect to drink with a fancy meal, during a celebration or any special occasion. With a slightly dry feel and a wonderful taste of pears and spices, it’s a very enjoyable and fun wine to drink. You can purchase a bottle of this wonderful Paso Robles wine for under $20 from wines.com.
2008 Deborah’s Delight Paso Robles
This is a somewhat more pricey wine at $40 for a half-bottle container, but after you taste it you will realize that it’s well worth the price. The 2008 Deborah’s Delight is a definite treat, and is considered a dessert wine. As soon as the wine hits your mouth you will realize what a perfect tasting sweet and citrus indulgence it is. Purchase it directly from the manufacturer at: Justinwine.com.
2006 Tablas Creek Vineyard Grenache
Bottled at Tablas Creek’s 120-acre vineyard which is north and west of Paso Robles, this wine is another perfect choice. By ordering directly from the Tablas Creek website and becoming a member, you can purchase this exquisite wine for only $22.75. According to the manufacturer of the wine, this particular choice pairs perfectly with grilled steaks, pastas with tomato sauce, rich beef stews and spicy saucy, but I personally enjoy drinking the wine with just about any meal, including chicken. The wine has a perfect feel to it from the very first spicy and sweet sip.
2005 Tablas Creek Vineyard Vin De Paille Sacrérouge
Manufactured by the same vineyard as the previous wine, this is another great wine, yet this one was created to pair with desserts. Drink this wine with just about any type of dessert containing chocolate, cheese, figs or berries, and you’re sure to enjoy it as much as I do. For $36 a bottle, it’s not overly expensive, enabling you to enjoy this special wine occasionally. This wine immediately enhances the taste of your dessert with its wonderful slightly chocolate and fig taste. The cherry-like smell of the wine is very nice as well.
2004 Ancestor Estate Reserve
My last favorite has been aged to perfection by Halter Ranch Vineyard and can be purchased from their online store for $44 a bottle. This magnificent red wine has an intense and lasting flavor of delicious-tasting berries along with a hint of mint, which is a dynamite combination! The smell is somewhat cedar and berry-like as well, which is especially pleasant. It pairs wonderfully with foods that have equally bold flavors such as barbecue with a somewhat zingy sauce.
