December 8 marks the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The Immaculate Conception is one of six recognized Holy Days in the liturgical calendar. Here are free printable activities and lessons to celebrate this feast day. I’ve gone through all the noted Catholic websites and linked this article to children’s liturgy activities that explore the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Our Blessed Mother.
chcweb.com The good people at Catholic Heritage Curricula were some of my earliest and best resources for Catholic teaching when I first began homeschooling as a newly converted Catholic. That was back in 1993 and I am delighted to see that CHC has a beautiful website and still continues to inspire and mentor Catholic homeschoolers. On their website you will find dozens of links for free printable Catholic curricula. There are sample lessons on language arts, social studies, history, art, coloring, music and more. As always with Catholic Heritage Curricula, the materials are all centered around faith, liturgy, saints, the liturgical calendar, catechism and the sacraments of the Catholic Church. My personal favorites are the lovely little coloring and how to draw activities designed by one of the elder sisters in the family that began Catholic Heritage Curricula. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed her sweet, reverant drawings.
Explore the free resources at CHC, but please respect the copyright rules. CHC has made the materials available for family use only. Please consider supporting the work of these missionaries, too. I’ve purchased lots of materials, curricula and activities and couldn’t be more delighted with their materials. http://www.chcweb.com/catalog/freecurricula.html
silk.net is one of my oldest web friends for free printable Catholic materials. I just love the crossword puzzles based around the gospel readings for each liturgical cycle. I like the www.4catholiceducators.com portion of Silk as well. Silk.net is one of the most useful, well-researched and instructive websites about the Catholic church.
Catholic Mom (click here) is one of my first stops for free printable Catholic activities. You can print Sunday mass readings and activities, feast day activities, coloring pages, puzzles, crafts, lessons, word search, crosswords all focused on Scripture, saints and church.
Software. Informer has several free downloads for Catholics including a Virtual Rosary, Catholic liturgical calendar, prayer calendar, ovulation and menstration calendar for those using NFP and other Catholic downloads.
