Just when the heat and humidity in Florida is starting to become redundant and unbearable, Halloween approaches; it is a reminder that the air will get a little cooler and dryer and will soon chase those nasty mosquitoes away. Ghost, witches, goblins, vampires, and other entities are about to roam the land to trick or treat us! But besides taking the kiddies trick or treating, are there other Halloween activities to enjoy in beautiful Kissimmee? Yes there are! Here are some of them.
Other than the very popular Walt Disney World in Orlando/Kissimmee area, there are other aspects of Kissimmee you should know about. On the east side of Kissimmee is the historic downtown district, located on Main St, right off of Highway 1-92. It is an area that holds its historic charm. The buildings appears to be at its original, the shops are quint, and the streets reminds you of the 1900s. This place has a lot of history; happy ones, memorable ones, and even haunted ones! If you love a little scare and is interested in learning about the mystery of historic Kissimmee, then I would recommend going on the Kissimmee Ghost Tour. It is a ninety minute walking tour to the most haunted places in Kissimmee. The tour guides will present you with stories of unsolved murders, mysteries, and ghosts! You are also invited to bring your cameras to take spirit pictures as you go on the tour. For more information and reservations, call (321) 251-5204.
If you are looking for a quick and fun scare, nestled inside the downtown area is Kissimmee’s Berlinsky Community House on Monument Street. The Community house has been converted into a haunted house attraction for all to come. They have opened their doors on the 23rd, the 24th, and the 30th of October. Although the admission fee is only $3.00, that doesn’t mean it’s only child’s play. As you park your car, you will noticed illuminating powerful lights shooting into the skies at the entrance next to the monument in front of the Community House. Follow the screams and make your way to the steps of the haunted house. Because everyone is looking forward to enter its doors, you may encounter a line. Don’t worry; you won’t be in line very long, they go pretty quickly. While you are waiting, there are refreshment stands that you can enjoy. The haunted house has a lot of dark mazes and things that will pop out at you, so enter at your own risk!
Now if you are more interested in entertaining the kids, there are Halloween activities going on in Celebration, Florida. Celebration is a community built by Disney, it is off of Highway 1-92 near Disney World. Celebration has villages of beautiful colonial style houses. Right in the middle of the village, there is a Town Center; they are holding the annual Oktoberfest celebration. They have pumpkin carving contest, costume contests, hay riding, live music, and trick or treating for the kids. While you are enjoying these activities, there will be fall leaves falling on you! The leaves fall daily at 6, 7, 8, 9 PM! So no matter what you do this Halloween season, always remember; stay safe and have fun! Happy Halloween.
