Ganger Farm is nestled in the lovely Hampshire countryside, just outside of Romsey next to the respected Hillier Gardens on Jermyns Lane. It is not obvious, unless you are looking for the farm or live nearby, you probably won’t notice it. However, if you know where to look it is easy to find, and convenient to the Romsey area. During the summer, Ganger Farm offers pick your own on a variety of fruits and vegetables, including strawberries, raspberries, currants, beans, and sweet corn. For more information about which fruits and vegetables are available when, click here. If you pick your own at Ganger Farm, they will supply plastic punnets that you can pick the fruit with and take it home in. Also, if you pick fruits like gooseberries, you can borrow leather gloves to wear while picking to protect yourself from thorns.
Picking your own fruit and vegetables is often cheaper than buying it at the supermarket, and it is satisfying to pick your own. The quality and taste of the produce is also better because it is so fresh. Going to the pick your own section of the farm is particularly fun if you have children. My kids love coming with us, although they are more eager to put the fruit directly in their mouths than in their buckets.
If you don’t want to pick your own, you can still buy fresh local produce at Ganger Farm. They have some pre-picked fruits and vegetables available during the summer, and they have a farm shop that opens once the pick your own closes (the exact date varies from year to year, but it’s usually in September or October).
Once the pick your own season has finished, you can still buy produce from Ganger Farm at their farm shop. It sells potatoes, carrots, onions, and other seasonal vegetables. No matter what you buy, you know that it will be freshly picked.
We have been to Ganger Farm many times. The produce is always of a high quality, and they price themselves competitively. They’re especially cheaper on more specialty items like black or white currants.
Ganger Farm is open for pick your own Tuesday to Friday 10.00 to 6.00, and Saturdays 10.00 to 5.00. They’re closed Mondays and Sundays. You can call them to check opening times and availability of produce on 01794 513345. The Farm Shop during the winter is not open as much as the pick your own, and usually closes for a few months after Christmas.
In addition to the produce grown on the farm, you can also buy other local products. Ganger Farm also sells local free range eggs, local honey, locally baked goods, chutnies, jams, cheeses, and New Forest Ice Cream. They also occasionally have other items, such as organic lavender bath products.
