I really love the Garnier shampoo and conditioners, so decided to try a couple of the different hairspray products. The one I am reviewing today is the Garnier Fructis Volumizing Anti-Humidity Hairspray. It was one sale for $2.99 and I had a dollar off coupon.
As I live in Florida I figured anti-humidity would be great for me.
The hairspray comes in a 8.25 ounce (234 g) can. It is green with a black top. Upon lifting the cap off, the spray top is also black.
I washed and conditioned my hair with Garnier all in one shampoo and conditioner. Then I used gel on it and blow dried it. I used the curling iron, teased it, and was ready to style it. I lightly sprayed the right side of my hair and then combed it. I then did the same with the left side, and rolled the back into a French twist. I lifted the top of my hair with a teasing comb, put it in position, and then sprayed the top.
I then closed my eyes and sprayed all of my hair. I let it dry and it was still too soft so I gave it a second spray. This time it was a little firmer.
We headed off to Sea World and spent the morning there. We went to an Outlet Mall, ate at a restaurant, and then came back to our timeshare. At the back of my head I had hair coming down. I also had wispy bits of hair coming in front of my ears. This never happens with my cheap White Rain hairspray.
I took a look at the can of hairspray and this is what Garnier state on it:
“Introducing our first ever hairspray with bamboo extract and anti-humidity protection for long-lasting hold and natural and healthy-looking movement.
Selected for it’s strength, suppleness, and resilience, bamboo bends and never breaks. This formula keeps you in control of your style with it’s frizz control bounce back hold, that lasts all day.
This volumizing hairspray lifts from the root to the tip, to boost flat, tired hair with body fullness, and an extra strong hold – even with moisture in the air – all day every day.”
I am sorry to say that I do not agree with these statements. My hair looked a mess when I returned from being out from 9.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. I had to respray my hair before going out in the evening. I had used the same amount of hairspray that I do with White Rain, in actual fact I had probably used more than normal.
I think that the Garnier Fructis Volumizing Anti-Humidity Hairspray would be good if you have short hair, or long hair that is down. With my hair being pulled back it just didn’t hold for me. I hadn’t taken any other hairspray with me on this trip, as it was only for 8 days. I continued to use it each day, but spraying 3 times, instead of my normal twice. My hair stayed fairly well with it, but certainly not the claims that Garnier have made.
A can of hairspray normally lasts me between 2 and 3 weeks, this one was used up on my last morning and the can thrown away. No matter what the price of this hairspray is, I will not be purchasing it again.
