Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat Invigorating Shampoo Review

by sawpan

A few months ago I tried Giovanni’s Tea Tree Triple Treat Conditioner, and I thought it was really good, so I decided to try out the shampoo as well.

Price of
Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat Invigorating Shampoo

I have a dry, coarse, and kinky hair texture, so I’m really wary about the shampoos I use because they can be drying. So instead of buying a full bottle I just bought a 2oz. travel size to try it out.

The travel size version sells for $1.99 at Target. But the full sized bottles can be found at Target and Whole Foods for $7.99.

Ingredients in
Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat Invigorating Shampoo

Underneath the Giovanni label there’s a line that reads “organic hair care” and although it’s made from organic oils, not all of the ingredients are natural.

It contains tea tree oil, peppermint leaf extract, eucalyptus oil, thyme extract, nettle, extract, coltsfoot flower extract, sage leaf extract, rosemary leaf extract, lavender leaf, matricaria flower extract, and achellea millefolium extract – which are all organic.

But it also has other ingredients like cocamide MEA and ethylhexylglycerin.

Texture of
Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat Invigorating Shampoo

This shampoo is clear like water – it isn’t creamy so I thought it might be a bit drying. But it has a really cool texture, it looks and feels like aloe vera gel. It’s sort of watery but it’s also firm.

Scent of
Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat Invigorating Shampoo

This shampoo doesn’t smell too much like tea tree oil, which I was happy about because tea tree isn’t my favorite scent. It does smell somewhat like minty and chalky, it has a bit of an eau de milk of magnesia feel to it.

But once I used it in the shower the menthol in the shampoo becomes really apparent and along with the steam, it totally opened up my nasal passages. It was actually invigorating.

Results After Using

Even though I thought the shampoo would be a bit drying, my opinion immediately changed once it was on my hair. Triple Treat is like a watery gel so it was actually hydrating, rather than stripping, and it left a silky finish to my strands. It also left my scalp feeling really clean and it gave it an intense cooling sensation that felt amazing.

In the End…

I wasn’t expecting it to be so great, but I really liked the Tea Tree Triple Treat, even better than Giovanni’s Smooth As Silk shampoo because it’s a bit more moisturizing and gentle. The minty tingle is definitely invigorating and relaxing when your scalp is feeling hot, itchy and irritated. I will definitely be buying the full sized bottle, and I’ll keep it in regular rotation – especially during the hot and sticky summer months. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
