Halloween Crafts for Toddlers

by sawpan

Toddlers enjoy crafts. They feel that they have done something substantial when their craft is finished. A craft on the refrigerator or hung on the wall thrills every toddler child.

Some Halloween crafts for toddlers that are easy for you and them to manage are pumpkins, ghosts, spiders and masks. Toddlers love to imagine and play. What better way to do both, than to make Halloween crafts to play with? Here are a few Halloween crafts every toddler can enjoy.

Halloween crafts for toddlers –

Paper plate pumpkin – Instead of a toddler decorating a pumpkin, he or she can make their own. Let the paper plate be the pumpkin. Give the toddler an orange marker to color the plate or you can use orange construction paper to cover the plate. Next, you will need green construction paper, so you or your toddler can cut the top to put onto the pumpkin. After you have taped or glued the top to the pumpkin, all you need to do is to use black construction paper to cut out the eyes, nose, and mouth for your toddler’s pumpkin. Let your toddler glue or tape the face onto the pumpkin. A pumpkin Halloween craft may keep your toddler from wanting to carve a real pumpkin.

Lollipop Ghost – One of the best treats is a lollipop ghost. A lollipop ghost can be a Halloween craft for your toddler to make and then, enjoy. A lollipop ghost might even be a treat you hand out for Halloween.

Growing up, my grandmother would make these for Halloween. She would buy a bag of lollipops and drop a white tissue over them. She tied the tissue with bread ties or sometimes yarn, and then decorated the face. Gently use a marker and make two dots for eyes. Making much more of a face you need to take the tissue off the lollipop. The tissue is likely to tear if you do not. That is a fact learned by trial and error.

Spider – A fun Halloween craft is spiders. You will want to paint the egg crates depending on what your toddler is capable of doing. Paint the egg crate black and then cut the individual egg holders apart. Once the egg crates are dry, the toddlers can use pipe cleaners for the spiders’ legs. They can use four long pipe cleaners and each end can come out of either side of the spider. If a child does not like spiders, you do not want to push him or her into making this project.

Flying ghosts – Flying ghosts are a great yard decoration as well as a great Halloween craft. Toddlers will enjoy this craft. Toddler supervisors will need to monitor toddlers since the long strings from the balloons will be tied and could harm the toddler.

For flying ghosts use helium balloons. Tie the balloons down so they will not float away. Once the balloons are tied, you can use white sheer fabric to make the ghost. Let the toddler cut the fabric and put it onto the balloon. You can even make a face for the ghost on the sheer fabric or draw a face on white paper and tape it to the balloon with the sheer fabric over the face.

Paper plate masks – Almost every toddler loves to dress up. Toddlers will enjoy making their own masks. A Halloween craft for a toddler is to make his or her own paper plate mask. You can precut the paper plates or let the toddler cut their own paper plate mask. Make sure you have a whole punch or something to make a whole so you can tie the mask onto the toddler.

Once the toddler’s paper plate mask is cut, he or she can decorate it. Have glue, glitter, crayons, paints, yarn or other craft decorating materials on hand. The toddler can decorate his or her own mask and maybe even wear it for Halloween.

There are many different versions of these toddler crafts and others online. You can start with these Halloween crafts for toddlers for a fun and spooky Halloween.
