Good health is a blessing. This healthy life does not always come easy. Many of us have diseases and good health barriers in our way. To overcome my health issues, here are the steps that I have taken to improve my health this year.
Drinking more water. Step one to improve my health this year was to drink more water! Every day. This is very hard for me since, I do not like to drink water. I never have. Even flavored water. My New Year’s resolution to drink more water has helped. I now drink many glasses of water every single day. I searched and found the best tasting bottled spring water, for me. So many times, water has a “weird” taste to me and I have to drink a completely taste free water. Once I found a brand that I liked, I stuck to it. Now, I actually crave a couple of glasses of water a day. Getting in the daily required amount of water is still hard but, I am drinking a lot more water than I ever have. That is a healthy step that I have achieved to improve my health this year.
Eating low fat foods. From snacks to dinners, I have made a drastic change for the better in my food choice habits. I now choose low fat snacks and low fat easy to prepare dinners, when, used to, I just enjoyed what I wanted to, regardless of the fat content. When I cook, I use low fat butter, low fat condiments and low fat ingredients, always. Healthy steps taken by me to improve my heath this year are very appreciated by my body.
Eating Oatmeal. I eat my oatmeal a few times a week. When I was younger, I absolutely loved oatmeal for breakfast. I fell into a non oatmeal eating slump for many years. Toaster strudels were my downfall. Eating oatmeal helps me lower my cholesterol intake, which is always good! I now am back to adding oatmeal to my diet several times a week. It gives me much more energy and I feel better. This healthy step certainly was needed, for me. It is a health priority in my life now.
I eat my veggies. This healthy lifestyle change is certainly paying off for me. While doing product reviews, I found many frozen easy to prepare steam in the microwave veggie products that I love! The easy to cook and fast preparation of these healthy vegetable options helped me add more veggies to my daily diet. I love my veggies!
More fruit. I have never been a big fruit eater. I like bananas and strawberries. That was my limit to fresh fruit eating. Until. Until I discovered Dole tropical fruit mix. This product is wonderful and delicious. It has passion fruit, pineapple, bananas and lots of great tasting fruit in it. I can keep a jar of this fruit in my refrigerator for a week and not worry about it spoiling before I can eat it. Adding more fruit to my diet helps me maintain a healthier lifestyle. Easily!
Limiting stress. This important health change was the most significant and most helpful for me. Stress kills and we often do not realize the damage that daily stress can bring upon our bodies. Being happy, enjoying life and avoiding negativity has helped me be more healthy. I now avoid people and situations that put me in a stressful frame of mind. I have the “Yes, I can do” attitude. I refuse to give that up. While the normal stress of daily living will come, there are often things we can choose to avoid, to make our lives more peaceful I do so. I am proud.
These are some of the many steps that I have taken to improve my health this year. I can see a difference, feel it and I am always trying to improve my health. Daily. Many folks with limiting illnesses or diseases know that while you cannot do all that you may have once done, you can make subtle changes that make a healthy difference for you!
