PUT GARBANZO BEANS IN COOKIES! Here is one of the trickiest ways to get kids (or even adults) to eat healthy, fiber rich, oh-so-good-for-you beans… put them in cookies! Garbanzo beans (or chickpeas) are awesome in cookies! Even if you are not trying to get healthy, try this anyway! The garbanzo beans look like macadamia nuts and even have a bit of crunch. You must try this! And not only in cookies, but in brownies, muffins and more! And you save money because garbanzo beans are way cheaper than macadamia nuts!
BUY GARBANZO BEANS — Pick up a can of garbanzo beans. They are also called chickpeas. First, look in the canned vegetable aisle. If you can’t find them there, look in the bean aisle. Still no luck? Look in the aisle with mexican foods. You will find them somewhere. If you can’t, just ask! They are there somewhere.
PREPARE YOUR COOKIE MIX — Make your cookie mix (or brownie mix, or muffin mix, or whatever you want “nuts” in) the same way as usual. If the recipe suggests something like “add 1/2 cup of nuts” just substitute and add garbanzo beans instead (rinse and drain them first!). If the recipe does not state a measurement for nuts, go ahead and add 1/2 cup or more if you like. Then just bake as directed!
SERVE AND DON’T TELL — Serve your cookies and don’t say a word about them being filled with beans. No one will know! The garbanzo beans will look and taste like nuts. Garbanzo beans are absolutely awesome in oatmeal cookies. But really, any cookie or brownie recipe will be great with garbanzo beans!
PUT CARROTS IN SPAGHETTI SAUCE! Can’t get your kids to eat their carrots? There is a tricky way to sneak carrots into their diet! It’s very easy to do and they will never know they just ate something healthy! All you have to do is hide the carrots in spaghetti sauce! Follow the steps below and they’ll be getting a healthy does of carrots each time you eat pasta!
MASH SOME CARROTS — You can either cook some carrots or take the easy way out and buy canned carrots. Either way, just drain the carrots and mash them or put them in a blender or food processor. You want them mashed well. You can add a bit of water to make the mashing process easier.
BUY OR MAKE SPAGHETTI SAUCE — If you like to make spaghetti sauce then go ahead and make some! If you want to take the quick and easy route then just buy a jar of your favorite brand of spaghetti sauce.
ADD CARROTS TO THE SPAGHETTI SAUCE — Pour your desired amount of spaghetti sauce in either a sauce pan or microwave safe bowl (how you heat your sauce is up to you). Add the mashed carrots to the sauce and stir! You can add up to 1/2 cup of carrots for each cup of sauce used and no one will know there are carrots in the sauce!
