A simple and easy way to make homemade Christmas Cards for friends and family with not a lot of fuss but lots of fun for everyone. Many people this year will have a need to save money during the Christmas Holiday so making gifts and holiday cards will be important.
Making Holiday Cards is easy with the right supplies. The items needed for this Christmas project are:
Christmas cards from years past
Glitter in Christmas colors
Elmer’s Glue (or another glue that will dry clear once it is on paper)
Colored markers or pencils (in Christmas colors)
Regular Ball Point Pens for writing
A list of sayings for the inside of the Christmas cards
A box of Card paper from the local craft store, these should be scored for folding
A box of large envelopes to place your cards in after they are ready to be mailed
First thing to do is take all the old Christmas cards and cut out any pictures from them that can be reused on your homemade cards. It may even be helpful to cut out the sayings on the inside of some cards if you like them. Put these in a stack next to the card paper. Be sure to fold all the card papers so that they are ready to use when it is time.
Once all of the Christmas card parts are ready take the glue stick and place glue from the glue stick on the back of the Christmas pictures chosen for the cards. Place these Christmas pictures in the area of the folded card paper and let stand for approximately 1 to 2 hours.
While waiting for the Christmas pictures to dry everyone can be coming up with sayings for the internal area of the Christmas cards. By making home made Christmas cards each recipient can get a special saying just for them.
Now that the Christmas picture is dry decide where and how the glitter will be placed on the card front. Place Elmer’s glue on the card paper and sprinkle a generous amount of colored Christmas glitter over the glue. At this point be sure to have some paper under the project and carefully pick up the card so that extra glitter will slide off. If an individual piece of paper is used for each color of Christmas glitter you can take the extra and place it back in the glitter bottle to save on waste. Be sure to use one color of glitter at a time. Give each card at least 30 minutes to an hour to dry or until the Elmer’s glue is clear before adding a second color of glitter to the card.
Once the outside of the Christmas Card is complete the cut out sayings can be glued with the glue stick on the inside of each Christmas card. If the decision is to write a greeting then open the card and have the greeting written inside. Using the colored pens Christmas greetings can be placed to personalize each card if the sayings are not enough. Let the Christmas Cards sit over night before placing them in the addressed envelops for mailing.
