The Hoover S2220 seems to pack a lot of punch at a $49.99 price point, but doesn’t it live up to its expectations as a decent lightweight vacuum cleaner?
S2220 Bagless Upright Rating:
The Hoover flair bagless is fairly lightweight and clocks in at a little over 10 pounds. The cleaning radius is a short 9 inches wide, and the standard motor is seven and two-fifths amps.
The vacuum itself is advertised as lightweight, maneuverable, and does not use bags but instead utilizes a multi state filtration system and a dirt cup that must be emptied once it fills up. The cup itself is transparent, so it can be easily seen how much dirt is contained within the vacuum.
A 20 foot power cord compliments the Hoover S2220 and it comes with a full one year warranty.
Pros and Cons:
Let us be straight upfront about what this vacuum is. Small uprights are not meant to clean entire homes, and they are mostly used for small spills and messes, or perhaps even a small apartment.
So you should be under no illusions that the Hoover flair upright vacuum is going to deliver high performance. As a lightweight vacuum, it performs surprisingly well, although some people may have negative reviews because they don’t take into account the proper use of a vacuum this size.
The filtration system is fairly effective and does not spread dirt all over the place, and the dirt cup is fairly easy to replace.
There are a number of drawbacks to this vacuum. The first is the weight, and it would not have hurt for this vacuum to clock in at around 8 pounds as opposed to 10. Still, even senior citizens should be able to lift this with ease.
Another disadvantage of the Hoover S2220 vacuum is the very short power cord which only measures about 20 feet, so if you want to move to a different room you usually have to unplug it and then stick it into a new outlet. The motor is fairly powerful, but when performing heavy chores it may cut out.
Another positive note is that this vacuum is very maneuverable, and it is also very slender so it is easy to store almost anywhere and does not take up a lot of space.
The Hoover S2220 is not a bad vacuum for the money if you just need a lightweight, but it certainly isn’t the best of its class. With a slightly lower price point of around $35.00, if you can find it at a discount, I would say it is a buy.
