Decorating your home for Christmas should include one of the most important rooms in your house – your kitchen. Here are five quick and easy tips that you can use to decorate your kitchen for Christmas. Best of all, these tips won’t break your budget and will use many things that you already have!
Decorate your Kitchen for Christmas Tip #1: Make an Ornament Centerpiece
Take a large clear glass vase or bowl. Fill it with an assortment of Christmas tree ornaments – both large and small. Overfill the vase or bowl so that the Christmas ornaments are higher than the vase or bowl. This inexpensive decoration really jazzes up the way your kitchen looks!
Decorate your Kitchen for Christmas Tip #2: Decorate with Candy Cane Glasses
Buy several packages of candy canes that are in the traditional hook shape. Take a tall, clear drinking glass and fill it with the candy canes until the glass is overflowing! As family members munch on the candy canes, simply add more candy canes to the drinking glass to keep it full. This lends a festive touch to any kitchen, large or small.
Decorate your Kitchen for Christmas Tip #3: Use Holiday Candles
I love candles, but because of my pets, I can’t burn them. That doesn’t stop me – I still decorate with candles! Purchase three round candles. Use your imagination and pick different sizes and heights. You can buy a candle base for them, or do what I do – simply center the candles on a large dish.
To disguise my dish, I fill the bottom of the dish with crushed candy canes or peppermint candies – which further accentuates Christmas colors of red and green. The candles will look great – and after Christmas is over, you can pack the candles away and use them again next year!
Decorate your Kitchen for Christmas Tip #4: Make a Cookie Tree
Christmas and cookies go together like, well, peanut butter and jelly. Using cookies is one of the easiest ways to decorate your kitchen, and your family will love you for it! Take your largest plate and put it at the bottom. Place a short, yet sturdy, 4″ drinking glass in the center. Place a smaller plate on top of the drinking glass. Keep the plates filled with cookies for the Christmas season!
Decorate your Kitchen for Christmas Tip #5: Hang Green Wreaths in the Kitchen
Whoever thought that wreaths are only for doors hasn’t been to my home during the holidays. I love to buy a freshly made green wreath at the beginning of the Christmas season and hang it in my kitchen! The smell is wonderful and keeps me going on those long nights of cookie baking and decorating! Hang a wreath in your kitchen, and bring the outside “in.”
It’s fun, easy and inexpensive to decorate your kitchen for Christmas. Just remember to keep all of your decorations safely away from your stove to prevent accidental fires. Happy decorating and Merry Christmas!
