Going to the salon for women is usually a moment of excitement. We expect to enter looking like ourselves, and leave looking like a movie star. But every once in a while, things go from good to bad, meaning a bad haircut. You go home, and figure you can style it and make it better. But after a good washing and playing around, you realize its not your hair, but the cut that you got. Here are some pointers to deal with hair gone bad.
Go Back To The Salon: When you return back to the salon, you may not want to go back to the same person who cut your hair. If you have a picture of how you wanted you hair to look, bring it with you. Don’t be afraid to say something. Everyone makes mistakes. More than likely if they are a salon with a good reputation, they will be happy to resolve the problem. However, do go in calm. Making a scene and screaming won’t help the situation.
Go To A Different Salon: As much as you may not like to pay to have a haircut again, it is part of who you are. It is your image. A bad haircut can invoke a self confidence issue and affect how you act around other people. If you feel uncomfortable with the salon that gave you the original haircut, having another set of eyes look at it can make the difference. It may also open you up to changing to a hairdresser that understand your hair and your needs.
Work It: Sometimes there is no cure for a bad haircut. The choice may be to go with a shorter style or to just wait it out. If you choose to wait it out you may have to be creative. Consider adding extensions, wearing your hair up or in different styles that don’t focus totally on your haircut. Funny, enough I am in this situation now. I have naturally curly hair and went to a scissor happy hairdresser. Needless to say, I will be wearing my hair up for a while, since I refuse to go shorter.
Consider a Wig: If the thought of walking into a room with what you have for a cut makes you just want to cry, consider a wig. So many stars today that you see in magazines and on TV are sporting wigs. Yes that perfect hair is so perfect because it isn’t theirs. Wigs today are so more naturally styled. They have real human hair that you can wash them and use styling tools on. Consider this a easy fix and you can still look good.
Deal With It: The nice thing about hair, it does grow back. Chances are that today’s bad haircut will be a bad memory in a relatively short time. So just deal with it until the time comes when you won’t fee subconscious about the cut.
Haircuts for women are a staple of who we are. But when the day comes, when the cut goes bad, don’t stress out, instead work with what you have. Make it your own, until the time comes when you can walk out of a salon feeling like a movie star again.
